This is a Principal individual contributor role and will be responsible for optimizing the cost across Lenovo’s E2E Hyperscale supply chain - designing and building cost-reduction strategies and models to continuously evaluate and reduce cost across all our functions - Component selection, Inventory buffering, Manufacturing process engineering, Inbound and Outbound logistics, coordinating closely with the customer.
Reporting to the Director, Strategic supply chain planning, this role will have a strategic and longer term focus, specifically responsible for cost and value engineering across the E2E supply chain.
The CVE contributes to increase the competitiveness and profitability of our products and solutions by implementing the Cost and Value Engineering levers (Cost Analysis and Optimization, Design to Value, Modularization and Standardization, Supplier Productivity Improvements, and Target Pricing/Target Costing.) in collaboration with the customer and our partners from the product management, project management, research & development, procurement, quality assurance, and production functions.
This role includes the following key responsibilities:
• Drive the strategic anchoring of the Cost and Value Engineering function within the Hyperscale supply chain
• Engage with our customers, internal engineering/product development teams and supply chain functions in performing cost analysis and optimization, Design to cost for existing and new components, to achieve tangible business impact
• Perform bottom-up cost calculations to identify cost drivers in product/components. Develop action plans to reduce product costs accordingly
• Support Sales/RFP processes to evaluate Lenovo manufacturing and logistics processes/costs against competitive / best-practice models and ensure accurate margin evaluations
• Build decision support models, with what-if scenarios to quickly ascertain the impact of supply or demand changes, and its effect on cost and present to Executive management on a periodic basis.
Position is based in Seattle area (Kirkland, WA site) and not budgeted for relocation. Qualified local candidates or those moving to the area are encouraged to apply.
Position Requirements
The ideal candidate will bring the following Skills, Experience, and Qualifications:
• Experience in Cloud or High‐tech electronics inventory management, Strategic sourcing, supply chain and manufacturing organization, including specific experience in Strategic procurement, Commodity management, Engineering or Production.
• Self-driven, pioneering approach to change management within an organization. Track record of successful implementation of innovative process improvements.
• Demonstrated negotiation skills with suppliers for price negotiations, frame agreements as well as strategic collaborative programs.
• Capable of finding the best cost-and-value architecture for our components, subsystems, systems, and solutions.
• Ability to work in a fast‐paced, dynamic environment and deal effectively with conflicting priorities and change
• Strong customer focus & attention to detail
• Minimum 5‐years management experience in high‐change environments
• Demonstrated ability to work independently & lead teams
• Demonstrated program & project management skills
• Strong written and oral communication
• Ability to self‐serve and perform deep data analysis and scenario evaluation
• Ability to work effectively in MRP/ERP, supplier collaboration tool environments
• Six Sigma/Lean Manufacturing/TFS training or experience
• APICS/ISM education/certification
• 20% travel to customer and supplier locations (Domestic and International)
Experience Required:
• Bachelor's degree (preferred MS or MBA) in Operations Management, Business, Supply Chain, or related technology BS degree, and/or equivalent industry experience
• 6-8 years’ experience managing volume purchasing, inventory management, supply-delivery and/or logistics in build‐to‐order and build‐to‐forecast environments
• Direct supply chain/sourcing and strategic procurement experience. Lean‐6 sigma project and process experience, APICS / ISM education
