The Global Vendor Management (GVM) team was created two years ago to accelerate the growth and branding of our most important vendors doing business across Amazon, from retail to AWS, Alexa, AMG and AIV/Studios to name only a few connection points. We need a smart, think big, invent-and-simplify, hands-on, hard-working leader to join the Global Vendor Management team as a Director of Business Development. This leader is customer-obsessed with strong business development skills, global thinking and the ability to conceive and develop growth opportunities and influence multimillion dollar investments from vendor CEOs and leadership teams. This leader must have an appetite for making the impossible possible, to build collaborative relationships with vendors and Amazon retail leadership worldwide. This leader work will directly impact how we accelerate the flywheel for global growth. We are scaling to deliver a billion dollar target for selection, vendor contribution profit and investment worldwide. You must be a leader with strong negotiation skills and the ability to compromise for the greater good to deliver value to our customers.

A successful leader in this role will not always expect to find existing processes for the kinds of opportunities and challenges we are undertaking, but will be resourceful and adaptable to find a way to work to ‘yes.’ Our team enjoys the diversity of others - internal colleagues and vendors – to expand and launch brands and selection, develop exclusivity programs, build new brand storytelling campaigns, initiate test and learn opportunities and identify performance improvements across all marketplaces. This candidate will be comfortable working in different roles - team leader, project manager, team member - in all countries and as a mentor on the T1V team. S/he can partner with all our stakeholders to identify the challenges and business needs identifying solutions to help drive the business. In addition to partnering one-on-one with internal category teams and external vendors, this individual will work well with others to deliver efficient processes that are scalable and automated where possible.

This leader will need to be innovative to work with global category and CX experience teams to create new value propositions that build trust with these brands at the most senior levels. As a leader within the greater Global Vendor Management team, s/he will play an integral part in our overall Global Vendor program by successfully partnering with various retail, operations, systems and marketing teams to support business initiatives.

Key responsibilities include:

· Work closely with country vendor teams to understand category and customer opportunities across multiple marketplaces within the focus categories. Identify strengths in existing brand/country relationships - particularly developed countries - to innovate and drive new growth initiatives

· Lead efforts for a select group of categories, brands and vertical retailers in the Softlines/fashion space developing a strategy of accelerating global expansion opportunities across all marketplaces
Prioritizing key partnerships which deliver a great customer experience and value to Amazon across all platforms (eg. Retail, AMG, AWS, Alexa, DRS, AIV and others)
Leading the development of a global joint business plan with vendors and all of our marketplaces to execute near and long term accelerated growth
Preparing and lead business reviews with Amazon senior leadership team on progress and roadblocks
Manage execution of identified initiatives with senior leaders and vendor managers across country marketplaces and categories to deliver against opportunities Provide input on the design and validation of new systems and functionality to enable these processes. You will help develop processes and mechanisms to make this work scalable.

Basic Qualifications

BS/BA with 8+ years of category leadership, business/partnership development and/or partner marketing experience
Proven think big leader who has experience with managing a team and leading/executing complex third-party agreements
Proven leader who has significant experience inventing and simplifying and structuring/ negotiating complex agreements while leading cross-functional groups to successfully complete deals
A demonstrated track record of delivering results
Strong analytical and quantitative skills; ability to use hard data and metrics to back up actions
Demonstrated ability to grasp and discuss technical concepts, tradeoffs and opportunistic new ideas with technical employees and partners
Strong verbal and written communications skills are a must, as well as the ability to work effectively with multiple teams and external organizations
Ability to travel up to 35% of the time

Preferred Qualifications

Demonstrated ability to engage and influence senior executives
Experience working within the consumables, hard lines, and luxury industries is a value
An MBA is preferred
