eBay’s Senior Merchant/Director of Consumer Electronics owns the end-to-end Category performance across eBay’s site. He/She drives the development of comprehensive customer-focused merchandise strategies, including: product assortment, pricing strategy, selection procurement, curation, and category site page optimization.
The Senior Merchant/Director Consumer Electronics will be responsible for driving growth within the Category, Vertical and Company through managing financial levers, inventory levers and site merchandising – with the goal to maximize business performance/profitability while accelerating growth and delivering on customer satisfaction.
Job Responsibilities
Drive the implementation of strategies and tactics that optimize financial performance of billion-dollar plus Category
Develop assortments and a go-to-market experiences that support the needs of the customer and the financial objectives of the Category and Vertical
Maximize sales through appropriate plans by resource, by digital location, and through marketing channels
In partnership with the marketing team, develop customer segmentation targets and build performance plans specific to each target
Lead the analysis of market data, industry dynamics, local market intelligence, product trends, customer shopping trends, and the competitive landscape to assess growth opportunities and site enhancements
Collaborate with marketing to ensure that consumer marketing messages, pricing, and promotional strategies support the financial objectives of the Category and Vertical
Strengthen relationships with sellers to maximize both profitability, inventory health and marketing
Activate technical products to drive adoption and conversion
Develop talent; oversight for a team of 4-5 Merchants and Site Merchandisers
Success will be measured by the following:
Year-over-year growth in Gross Merchandise Volume (Sales)
Category profitability
Market share growth
Inventory health and conversion metrics
Assortment selection, brands and differentiated assortment
Job Requirements
7+ years of merchandising, retail, or industry background. Experience must include buying, planning, structuring product lines, and pricing
Strong partnership skills; ability to broker mutually beneficial outcomes with stakeholders internally and externally, and to manage within a matrix organization
Strong people management skills with proven ability to build, inspire and lead a high-performing team
Proven track-record of strategic planning and execution, and of taking projects from idea to full implementation in a large complex organization. Expert level experience integrating emerging trends and best practices into strategies
Very strong analytical skills and business acumen in a complex data environment; demonstrated ability to craft merchandising strategies
Ability to articulate vision and purpose of initiatives and programs as they relate to long-term goals and objectives
Demonstrated ability to use metrics to drive productivity, increase consumer satisfaction, and manage costs
Flexibility in responding to changing priorities
Passion for eBay, eCommerce and Merchandising
