We are looking for a Director to be the site leader for our Realtime Data teams in Israel, responsible to recruit the team, oversee building and enhancing ML-based systems, tools, and services that serve as infrastructure for practically everyone in Facebook. As a strong software leader and an expert in building complex systems, you will be responsible for inventing how we use technology, Machine Learning, and Data to enable the productivity of Facebook. You will help envision, build, deploy and develop our next generation of data engines and tools at Facebook's scale. You'll wear multiple hats, including entrepreneur, people leader, product manager, project manager, business analyst, and even scrum master for data products and solutions. You will be bridging the gap between business and engineering, and functioning with deep expertise in both worlds.
Mentor and support engineers' growth and success, help them to find and focus on their strengths
Lead and guide engineering culture to form a high performance team
Communicate across functions and drive engineering initiatives
Participate in technical design
Be both a highly technical, hands-on coder and effective people manager for a team of senior software engineers
Communicate cross-functionally and drive engineering efforts
Hold your own in technical discussion, be a subject matter expert, and have strategic influence
Work closely with the key internal business stakeholders – Software Engineering, Data Engineering, Product Analytics and other business leaders.
Interact with top customers to understand their needs and build out these capabilities in internal tools - as well as influence the features of related products in our engineering driven organization.
Provide direct project management - lead and conduct project activities based on Agile (Scrum) methodology.
Foster a culture of data-driven decision making.
Be an in house Entrepreneur and Founder for new initiatives in the world of Data and Machine Learning
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors degree in a technical discipline required (ie: Computer Science, Technology, Engineering, Math).
4+ years experience managing managers.
8+ years experience managing teams.
12+ years experience building, delivering, developing and designing data tools, services, and products
Proven track record starting new initiatives and leading them to success.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience building systems utilizing Machine Learning algorithms.
Technical experience with analytical tools, methodologies, and design.
Experience giving presentations to manager levels and above.
Experience with client management.
