Houzz is looking for a Director of Sales Training to lead efforts in developing our largest work force -- Houzz sales and service organization. You will play a pivotal role in the knowledge and skills development of the sales and service employees who are engaging industry professionals to reinvent the entire home design and remodeling industry through amazing technology and design. You will define and drive the strategic direction of Houzz’s sales and service training as we grow rapidly to meet the demands of our globally expanding user base. You will leverage your deep experience in talent management, to lead, mentor, and grow a team of sales and service training professionals.
Build, manage, and lead a collaborative training team that can scale to the fast-paced demands of a rapidly growing world-wide sales and service technology company
Drive the sales & service training strategy for sharing our company's story, vision, culture and technology with our expanding consumer and client population
Refine, improve existing and/or create and execute innovative training strategies and initiatives to meet the changing goals and objectives of the company.
Determine the best training delivery method to maximize learning as well as meet business objectives.
Mentor, guide, and grow the careers of all members of the sales training team
Provide overall ownership of the employee sales & service training experience with the goal to actively increase knowledge, skills and elevate performance
Define, measure and apply consistent data-driven training metrics to achieve company objectives
Partner with channel leaders to improve processes for training requirements at Houzz
Stay connected to the competitive landscape, including trends in training development and learning as an engagement and retention tool.
Implement strategies to accelerate cross training and flexibility among employees in support of the business needs.
Work on-site in our Orange County office as part of a demanding start up environment; accommodate multiple office schedules and time zones.
Required Skills and Experience
8-10+ years of hands-on sales and/or service trainer experience within a large scale and rapidly growing organization (startup experience +) including 3+ years of demonstrated experience in managing a team of training professionals; must have experience with internal or external content developers within a Learning Management System
Strong interpersonal/human relation skills and the ability to speak the language of direct sales. Experience within the direct sales arena is preferred
Strong innovative, analytical and creative problem solving skills
Strong knowledge of training methodology, adult education, and change management.
Proven track record of exceptional project management skills and getting things done
Experience with defining, gathering and leveraging training benchmarks, metrics and data
Broad understanding of general HR requirements as it relates to employee development
Experience and proficiency with Learning Management Systems (i.e. Lessonly, Adobe Captivate Prime, TalentLMS and other cloud based or mobile mediums) and office applications (Google Apps)
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Management, Organization Development or relevant field AND equivalent work experience driving change through an organization
