Purpose
Responsible for the overall leadership, strategic concept, and manufacturing scope covering the apparel embellishment facility at the Indianapolis, Indiana (United States) facility.
Key Responsibilities
Define strategy for production; implement and execute strategy in collaboration with key stakeholders and alignment with overall sourcing apparel business plan. Specifically, in the areas of:
Implement lean manufacturing.
Attend manufacturing/technology fairs and bring in latest manufacturing methods and machinery. Establish an effective direct development workflow with the creation center in Portland. Ensure continuous learning with respect to new working methods and deepen knowledge and understanding of operations and industry trends. Build, develop, coach, motivate and lead a strong diversified team; facilitate and foster continuous learning environment for the team. Actively communicate and implement the future strategic concepts in the field of engineering, workforce-facility, and material management. Ensure that apparel production is constantly operating on a profitable level through budgeting and forecasting, reporting of actual costs, performing ad-hoc variance analysis, and communicating results to respective stakeholders. Plan and implement adidas Group sourcing strategies for external suppliers. Manage apparel production in accordance to adidas standards like quality, delivery times, costs, machine usage, workforce, and budget management.
Key Relationships
Internal business partner: Social and Environmental Affairs, United States Team Services, Marketing, Apparel Sourcing, and Apparel Quality. External business partners: machinery/ink suppliers and sporting goods manufacturers.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Expert knowledge in factory plant management. Expert knowledge of printing and manufacturing. Ability to think strategically and to synthesize complex data and develop innovative solutions. Ability to understand and use financial data to make decisions and influence outcomes. Ability to cope with change, make decisions, and act comfortably with risk and uncertainty. Ability to coach, guide, manage, and develop a team. Fluent English (written and spoken). Strong MS Office skills. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to travel by aircraft/train/car - domestic and international.
Requisite Education and Experience
Four-year college or university degree with focus on apparel manufacturing or engineering, or equivalent combination of education and experience. 10+ years of work experience in the sporting goods industry, ideally in production leadership positions.
