The MeSo team is looking for an analytical, entrepreneurial, and creative Senior Director, responsible for leading the team’s effort to define & execute the strategy, roadmap, and development of Expedia, Inc.’s global media solutions portfolio. The position requires a strategic and synchronised perspective, exceptional stakeholder management and program leadership skills, and commercial ingenuity coupled with a courageous curiosity.

As a member of the global MeSo leadership team, you will be heavily involved in shaping the future of the business by working closely with the leadership team to create and deliver the annual Strategic Plan, and by leading a small global team working cross-functionally to assess and monopolize upon commercial growth opportunities. The Senior Director, Strategic Business Initiatives role is an opportunity for you to play a crucial role in the continued evolution of MeSo’s rapidly growing global business.
To be successful, you’ll need to have a data-driven approach, strong communication and influencing skills, and an unerring sense of how to balance multiple competing priorities under tight deadlines. As a key leader on the MeSo team, you will need to be an experienced and effective people leader, capable of providing guidance, feedback and direction to an energetic team. The position requires working closely with various partners across various lines of business and across all brands within Expedia, Inc. globally.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategy Development
Own all aspects of developing, initiating and implementing MeSo’s overall strategy and philosophy.
Communicate strategic initiatives and results to both the MeSo organization and more broadly across Expedia, Inc. to secure commitment and alignment.
Lead the annual long-term strategic planning process, by working in tandem with the MeSo leadership and finance teams.
Large-Scale Program Management
Direct the planning, development, implementation, administration, strategic planning and budgeting for MeSo’s programs.
Ensure all teams are aligned against key deliverables and address any potential road-blocks. Proactively identify factors affecting performance and deliver timely and relevant intelligence.
Lead team communications to ensure output is presented clearly and concisely. Develop compelling presentations for both internal and external customers.
Competitive Assessment
Assess and benchmark Expedia’s current market position and programs alongside the market and market trends.
Become a subject matter authority and develop an in-depth knowledge to provide recommendations and insight.
Form close working relationships with the MeSo leadership team and provide analytical support for their strategic decisions.
Brand Alignment
As MeSo is a common service provider to all brands, this person will be the consistent custodian of all brand alignment.
Provide accurate and robust reporting to give a comprehensive view of business performance. Own and develop the MeSo organisation’s KPIs.
Business Development
Identify, prioritize and deliver key commercial growth initiatives across MeSo to enable faster growth across channels, routes to market, products, and geographies.
Source opportunities to partner with external vendors to grow the business.
People Leader
Build, coach, develop, engage and retain a team of strategy professionals.
Maximize team performance and foster a culture of innovation, productivity, responsiveness and quality.
Provide impactful leadership, line management and coaching. Recruit effectively and ensure the team is structured to best serve its internal customers.
Ideal Profile:

Proven track-record in the design, development and delivery of strategic commercial programs for large fast-paced multinational companies. Significant experience in strategic consulting, and/or an in-house global Strategic Initiatives function with impact on the bottom line.
Exceptional inclusive partner management and interpersonal skills. Ability to navigate the complexities of multiple internal and external partners, with experience leading programs collaboratively based in multiple countries and time zones.
Exceptional analytical, critical thinking and strategic problem-solving skills, with the ability to cut through complexity and turn high-level business requirements and opportunities into specific projects.
Strategic thinker able to synchronize across diverse opportunities, combined with pragmatic, tactical execution. Analytically minded approach with demonstrable negotiation and influencing skills.
Ability to lead, develop and engage a small consulting-style team to deliver strategic planning, strategic analysis, due diligence and drive execution across the business.
Demonstrated agility to work collaboratively across a global matrixed organization and functions in a fast-paced environment.
Strong program leadership skills and the ability to coordinate, organize and prioritize critical workstreams to drive business results.
Demonstrated knowledge of emerging global market trends, as well a deep understanding of emerging cultural and competitive practices.
Ability to envision and articulate a compelling future. Inspiring communication and storytelling skills; to present complex information simply in both small and large group settings.

Demonstrates excellent business judgment and ability to move and evolve with the fast-changing needs of the company.
Proven ability to deal with ambiguity and work well in a fast-paced environment to meet deadlines within short time constraints while maintaining the utmost attention to detail.
