The Head of Developer Experience will be responsible for providing capabilities that improve developer experience and increase productivity across the organization.

What you will do –

Be responsible for providing capabilities that improve developer experience and increase productivity across the organization.
Lead the Platform as a Service team responsible for automation of application provisioning, build, deploy, monitor and remediation capabilities on both private and public cloud
Lead the team responsible for managing test environments and providing Enterprise Continuous Integration capabilities
Lead frameworks for development and quality that will drive standardization of developer experience
Partner with technology leaders across the organization to drive transformational change and technology alignment with a focus on improving developer agility and quality.
Provide organizational leadership and guidance on standards and best practices by constantly incorporating the latest industry technologies and standards.
Engage with the outside world and establish PayPal’s tech presence in the industry.
Hire and retain the best talent in the industry, inspiring the organization on the developer productivity charter
Mentor, coach and develop engineering leaders and leading by example.

Job Requirements

A successful candidate will a strong leader who is able to build a high performing team, can creatively balance high quality delivery with customer focus to meet business needs, has excellent communication skills, and continuous record of delivering results in an aggressive and fast paced environment.


15+ years of world class engineering experience with a strong track record of working with platforms of scale and cloud technologies.
Experience with creating an engineering culture around agility and improved developer productivity
Successful track record of building strong relationships, developer empathy and working across the organization to influence and drive change
Proven track record to lead, develop and inspire high performing global organizations
Ability to galvanize the company around mission and charter, serving as an internal change agent to drive speed and innovation for developer community through technology
Strong focus on learning, applying and extending best in class industry practice and history of creating strong leadership teams
Ability to influence and achieve alignment across a range of different opinions and interests; experienced at building consensus within federated, political environments with a specific goal of evangelizing an enterprise-wide strategy across various business units
Strong communication, listening, and negotiation skills; able to convey important messages in a clear and compelling manner
MS in computer science or equivalent
