The Microsoft Accelerator programs around the world were awarded the best entrepreneurship programs / best incubators/ accelerators for the past 3 years in China, India and Israel and one of the leading programs in the world. The Managing Director (a.k.a. CEO in Residence) of Microsoft Accelerator is the key person to make this happen, and will bring this program to a higher level, especially in our accelerator in Seattle with the natural proximity to the company’s HQ and the only one in the US. Ideally, you will be tech entrepreneur with understanding of technology, a love for the startup community.
• Have at least 3 years of proven experience in building startup teams with successful exits
• Have previously worked with the US investment community (VCs and angels)
• Have at least 3 years of proven experience in working within a large global corporation
• Have the passion and ability engage with, recruit and build a vibrant regional community of entrepreneurs
• Have the ability manage a broad portfolio of business relationships with startups, mentors, investors and internal Microsoft stakeholders
Additionally, you embody these characteristics and abilities:
• Can build a world-class mentor, angel/VC and customer network to fuel the growth the portfolio companies
• Thrive on collaboration within Microsoft and with the wider tech industry and ecosystem
• A great people manager combined with operational excellence
• Demonstrate innovative and out-of-the-box thinking in working with this unique community
• Be deeply embedded in the local startup ecosystem
• Have strong relationships with local tech influencers, incubators, accelerators
• Can engage and recruit top entrepreneurs and startups at different stages
• Know how build an amazing product, know how to develop customers and grow a company previous experience with building a startup or building a tech community, is a big plus
• You’ll become a key figure of the local startup ecosystem and will be critical to fueling its growth.
• Ideally, you’ll wear multiple hats - the face of Microsoft
Accelerator in the US, the uber-mentor of the startups in the program, the face of the accelerator within Microsoft, and the spokesperson for Microsoft in the startups ecosystem. As part of this job you will grow the Microsoft Accelerator brand, presence and value.
Basic Qualifications:
• Have at least 3 years of proven experience in building successful startup teams with successful exits, as well as experiencing failures
• Have at least 3 years of proven experience in working successfully within a large global corporation
