Reporting to the Global Head of Institutional Marketing, this individual will be responsible for leading ICB’s brand positioning programs and developing and driving results-oriented, content-rich marketing campaigns that align to US and Canada institutional business priorities. The Director will set a value-add marketing agenda for institutional client business segments, including foundations & endowments and family offices. He/She will also partner with cross-functional teams, including sales, product, operations, digital, communications, events, creative services, and legal and compliance, to drive multi-faceted activation plans that generate qualified leads and client engagement on key business priorities and products. Plan tactics include: direct marketing campaigns and thought leadership, third party conference and media partnerships, website development, event and conference implementation, and sales enablement. This position will oversee and be accountable for campaign measurement, overall program effectiveness and ROI, delivered to management on a regular basis.
Responsibilities:
Develop marketing strategies and plans that align to our brand and support U.S. and Canada Institutional Client Business priorities, including the ability to optimize ROI and ascertain the right mix of activities
Deliver effective, multi-faceted marketing programs that provide a seamless client experience and position BlackRock as the trusted adviser in the institutional marketplace
Work cross-functionally and regionally with team members in marketing and communications teams to ensure alignment on messaging, strategy and coordination across plans to further the goals of the firm
Develop and maintain strong relationships with colleagues across geographies, channels and functions, as well as with sales and key stakeholders within BlackRock
Consult and communicate regularly with key business partners and leaders; viewed as a trusted and valued source of marketing expertise
Partner with internal writing and production resources to generate high-quality content for client activation
Plan and execute event and conference sponsorship in conjunction with institutional client business segments
Execute internal sales enablement initiatives and generate of excitement around marketing activity
Manage content on institutional website that is in line with firm brand strategy & campaign messaging
Skills and Qualifications:
A minimum of 5-8 years investment/asset management experience; experience in institutional marketing, sales, and/or strategy strongly preferred
Successful track record of originating and building go-to-market programs that incorporate competitive/marketplace analysis, strategic plans and tactics as well as metrics for return on investment
The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable about institutional clients, asset management industry, and the markets with the ability to think strategically and analytically and bring breakthrough ideas to sales teams
Ability to work in a fast paced dynamic environment, drive forward key initiatives—at both strategic and tactical levels—and manage workflow on simultaneous projects
Proven experience interfacing and negotiating with internal and external groups at all levels and across multiple functions, including senior sales managers, corporate executives and subject matter experts
Strong analytical, communication and leadership competencies
Exceptional influencing and decision-making skills with sound judgment
Creative and self-motivated; works collaboratively in a high performance team
Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment – adaptable, reliable with a strong ‘can do attitude’
Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal and collaboration skills
Positive attitude, strong ethics, team player with a strong attention to detail
BA/BS (or equivalent experience) required; licenses/designations and/or graduate level work preferred
Ability to travel as needed (5-10% time)
