We are searching for a Director of Facilities - someone who works well in a fast-paced hospital setting. You provide management of and leadership for the Facilities Planning & Development project management staff in the development, planning, coordination, monitoring and control of construction or renovation projects. You will be responsible to provide support to the leadership of Facilities Planning & Development. You will provide guidance and develop staff accountabilities to ensure that all projects are completed on time, within budget, of appropriate quality and in support of the goals, standards, objectives and priorities.
Responsibilities :



Assists in facility master planning and the development and management of annual capital budget
Negotiates contracts with consultants and contractors for the development and completion of construction projects
Develops, monitors and maintains standards of practice for the department to improve the quality of service provided by the department
Delegates staff assignments and monitors workloads to maintain optimal productivity levels. Monitors progress of design and construction projects
Supervises the planning and management of project delivery and the coordination with interdisciplinary internal and external teams to guide departmental staff to overall project success
Develops, monitors, motivates and advises the departmental staff to ensure a high degree of positive morale and productivity by developing procedures and tools and by providing coaching and training to allow the staff to grow professionally
Communicates with various governing agencies as required for facility projects and operation
Represents facility planning, design, construction and applicable code compliance within committee structure
Works in collaboration with department leadership to prepare, submit and maintain annual department operational budgets
Monitors progress of design and construction projects
Reviews and approves consultant fee proposals, contractor pricing estimates and other project budget impacts
Guides departmental staff in effective and timely action, so that planning and construction conflicts, cost overruns and project delays are avoided

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, design, business, construction, facilities management, interior design or architecture
Eight years of experience managing projects in the design and/or construction industries
Four years in a supervisory role (can be inclusive of other experience)
Current professional license in architecture or engineering from the state of Texas is preferred
Knowledge of the City of Houston Building Code, Life Safety Code, ADA/TAS, TDSHS Hospital Licensing Rules and construction methodolog
Ability to demonstrate strong leadership skills, exceptional communication skills, and self-initiative
