Role Description
A major focus of the role will be translating strategic objectives into operational plans and discrete deliverables, providing insight into operational feasibility of proposed strategies. The incumbent will drive cross-functional and cross-geographical alignment for clinical, medical, and/or commercial growth projects that support Pfizer Essential Health R&D. These projects will make important contributions to the business. The incumbent will work closely with Clinical, Medical, and other Partner lines, and project leaders to operationalize strategy through resource negotiation, project planning and execution, budget management, and risk identification and mitigation. The Project Manager will consolidate and evaluate information in order to participate in project prioritization and alignment to business priorities and goals.
Experience with regulatory submissions is desired as the initial project assignment will require a basic understanding of regulatory submissions to ex-US Health Authorities
Knowledge or experience with Anti-infectives and/or CNS/Pain Therapy Areas would be advantageous

Responsibilities
Operations Leader for project teams

Translates teams’ strategic objectives into operational plans; provides insight into operational feasibility of proposed strategies. Ensure that discreet deliverables are well characterized with associated timing, resources, quality parameters, interdependencies across lines. Manage project teams from the standpoint of logistics, communication, resource management and team effectiveness to ensure delivery of projects on time and on budget. Work closely with team members and key stakeholders to consolidate information and develop communication strategies for the project team. Identify internal or external impacts to strategies and plans; assist the team in characterizing the impacts, and proactively work with team members and subject matter experts to develop options for overcoming obstacles, mitigating shortfalls, and managing risks.

Collaborate with key stakeholders

Drive creation and maintenance of development, clinical, medical, asset, and strategic plans, confirming that cost, time, and quality parameters are clearly outlined. Work closely with clinical, medical, and Partner lines and project leaders to develop and operationalize strategy through resource negotiation, project planning and execution, budget management, and risk identification and mitigation. Monitor team performance, identifying issues and working with leadership to recommend and develop appropriate action. Be knowledgeable about issues and concerns regarding the projects and ensuring that they are escalated appropriately as needed.

Guide project team members through the governance process

Provide the team information regarding the role and function of PEH R&D governances and strategic planning process. Understand governance requirements and facilitate team interactions with governance, as appropriate, helping them develop and assess innovative scenarios and options. Guide project teams to the appropriate venue to resolve issues and seek advice. Ensure that project team interactions with the governances are well-planned and meet requirements. Support governance activities as assigned.

Provide reports and status updates

Use available tools and systems to monitor progress against strategic goals and operating plan. Collate information for assigned projects regarding Partner line resources and ensure data is entered into appropriate systems to enable Partner lines to do financial/resource modeling and allocation. Align project timelines and deliverables to goals. Generate regular reports on the status of assigned projects. Manage key documents and plans, keeping them current and accessible.

Prior Experience:
• Five or more years’ experience in a project management or other operational role in the pharmaceutical industry in the areas of drug development, commercial development, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or Regulatory Affairs.

• Demonstrated success managing multiple drug, commercial development, or other cross-functional projects to achieve milestone goals and budget. Experience managing all phases of development preferred.

• Experience with budget and resource management. Experience with the development of the annual Operating Plan preferred.

• Hands-on experience with relevant Pfizer tools and systems (e.g. Planisware, Right Track II) preferred.

Training & Education Preferred:
• Bachelor’s degree required. Degree should be in a relevant scientific, medical, business, or drug development discipline.

• Project Management or similar related certification (e.g. Six Sigma) preferred.
