The Commercial, Strategy and Services (CSS) Insurance strategy group at Expedia is responsible for leading insurance business P&L and driving optimal pricing for products across Expedia’s domestic and international points of sale. The group delivers millions of dollars of incremental revenue making a direct and substantial impact to Expedia's bottom-line.The Director of Insurance Strategy and Business Development is responsible for running the insurance business including the P&L.

General Responsibilities:
Lead a team that executes on a variety of areas such as strategy, business development, account management, customer experience, business performance and reporting.
Manage the insurance P&L and deliver on yearly financial targets including collaboration on quarterly forecasting with the finance team
Evaluate opportunities and prioritize initiatives that guide the team to execute and meet our financial plan
Co-develop a strategy with each supplier and stay aligned on goals, initiatives and targets to strengthen our external relationships
Develop a plan for improving customer experience and drive initiatives with suppliers to track and improve key metrics
Lead projects across a variety of orgs such as product management, engineering, retail and marketing departments to align projects with insurance growth strategy
Empower your team to incubate new travel insurance products with added benefits that will increase demand and are exciting for Expedia travelers
On-going communication of business performance and team progress on initiatives
Ability to partner with product and engineering peers and build consensus towards a common goal
Collaborate with Expedia and other brands including Homeaway, Egencia, Hotwire and CarRentals.com to develop products and grow their insurance business
Use data to identify, evaluate, and manage strategic business opportunities with significant potential incremental revenue
When needed, lead deal development including prospecting, negotiating, and project development with current or new insurance providers.
Deliver insights on performance and help the team create business cases that identify opportunities and risks
Develop a deep understanding of the competitive landscape and act as a subject matter expert for travel insurance.
Qualifications:
Experience managing people and leading a business
Bachelor degree in a Business/economics/math/technical field or related discipline required. MBA a plus.
Experience in an analytical role in an ecommerce, technology company, consulting, or product management preferred
Extensive experience in identifying and prioritizing high-impact improvement opportunities
Excellent communication, influencing and relationship building skills
Demonstrated ability to work through complex business problems and partner with internal clients with a consultative approach.
Strong analytical/modeling skills with ability to convert raw data into actionable business insights
Excellent verbal, written and data presentation skills are a must-have.
Ability to communicate in a clear and effective manner
Ability to prioritize among conflicting demands in a fluid environment
