The Director, Strategic Merchant Development should be a dynamic, self-motivated, credit leader who embraces the complex and evolving fin tech and lending landscape along with the high demands of complex, large online retailers. This leader in the PayPal Credit business will be responsible for growing relationships with new and existing strategic merchants by building a customer-focused go to market strategy, partnering effectively across PayPal. This individual will be the large account ambassador to the Credit business and have the client facing, business development, B2B marketing and finance expertise to be the lead with major merchants, grow our base and expand our existing relationships.
Key responsibilities:
Hone and enhance our PayPal Credit value proposition for strategic merchants.
Develop relevant and powerful sales collateral and go to market tools that empower the sales force and account managers.
Partner with analytics teams to develop sub-segmentations that inform enhanced messaging and product strategies.
Partner with the largest account and sales teams to deliver customer-driven solutions, close deals and expand relationships.
Lead and partner with merchant marketing teams to enable turnkey, powerful and value driving Credit marketing assets across earned, owned and paid channels.
Work in partnership with the product development and management functions to ensure current products meet merchant needs while building for future market moving solutions.
Work hand in hand with the Consumer Credit marketing teams to deliver enhanced acquisition and engagement strategies through our largest merchant partners.
Optimize deals to maximize value Credit drives for the P&L.
Successfully cultivate relationships across the Credit and Merchant businesses to increase impact.
Inspire peers, partners and team members by creating followership, serving as an inspiration and manifesting best in class management.
Prioritize initiatives to drive in year impacts while transforming the business in the longer term.
Job Requirements:
A business development leader with 10+ years of experience creating commercial business development strategies, managing complex client relationships and growing businesses.
Deep and varied experience in the consumer lending industry, direct issuer experience preferred.
A B2B marketer with significant experience creating go to market strategies for medium and mega businesses on and off line.
Proven ability to develop and oversee a data-based growth strategy that leverages internal and external data sources along with financial inputs to maximize impact and ROI.
Significant experience working cross functionally, with sales, marketing and product teams and building deep, meaningful business relationships.
Track record of setting clear, measurable goals, aligning goals with sales, product and marketing teams and delivering on a plan.
Customer first mindset: Must be able to demonstrate an ability to identify customer insights and meet unmet needs.
A demonstrated ability to work across a global organization and manage diverse stakeholders
A student of the payments industry, including a passion for online commerce, and overall desire to work on the cutting edge of both technology and retail.
Superior financial acumen: Consumer Credit experience a plus.
