Director Public Relations UBM plc New York

The Public Relations Director will develop and implement UBM Fashion’s strategic public relations plan to promote the organizations’ image as a leader in the industry and to help build and maintain a positive public image. The Public Relations Director will also maintain relationships with the media, the community, and public interest groups to gain public support of the organization’s goals and policies, and be responsible for the development and execution of PR strategies that increase the visibility and standing of UBM Fashion Group.

Our events cover all major fashion categories from men’s, women’s, and children’s apparel, accessories, and footwear to manufacturing resources and service providers.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Communications and Media Relations
Develop PR strategies to improve brand awareness and maintain a positive organizational image to external and internal parties.
Develop consistent messaging for UBM Fashion as a whole and act as primary point of contact for key b-to-b fashion media and trade show media
Maintain and leverage past well-established contacts and develop relationships with new contacts involved in a variety of media channels to maximize media exposure.
Collaborate with business leads on potential PR opportunities in regards to short-term objectives and long-term goals
Act as a liaison between UBM Fashion Group and external agencies to make sure long-term strategic plans are being met
Create and maintain an organized communications/PR library that stores all overall UBM Fashion Group press releases, quotes, talking points, and media coverage.
Prepare and deliver presentations to further public relations objectives.
Support and stay connected to a variety PR networks and initiatives. Maintain close relationships with media and identifying new PR trends and growth potential for UBM Fashion Group.

Events Planning
Serve as the organization’s spokesperson at all media events and community engagements.
Work with UBM Fashion’s external PR agencies in the planning and execution of all events.

Internal Communications
Work with show teams in establishing PR goals – both near term and longer term
Collaborate with experiential marketing teams, show leads, and assigned PR agencies to identify pitch-worthy / buzz-worthy content
Ensure key elements of active marketing campaigns and show initiatives are understood by all fashion teams and are communicated to external agencies and media
Work with show teams on establishing current PR goals and defining emerging opportunities and sectors of growth
Collaborate with show teams on deliverables (photo, video, etc.) to outside agencies to fulfill the overall media coverage requirements
Create and maintain an organized communications/PR library that stores all overall UBM Fashion Group press releases, quotes, talking points, and media coverage
Identify and manage publicity opportunities to promote the organization and new products and services.
Engage with the management and leadership team to communicate success stories and best practices to promote progress and cultural messages.

Management
Manage the public relations department’s budget.
Develop and apply quantitative measurement practices to be followed by external PR agencies, and work with internal team to analyze results.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Formal Education and Certification
Bachelor’s Degree in the field of journalism, communications, English, or public relations.

Knowledge and Experience
Minimum seven years’ experience in a public relations role required. Industry experience an asset.
Past experience with a top tier PR agency an asset.
Prior experience creating and implementing multi-pronged PR strategies as well as media relations programs.
Demonstrated knowledge of the organization’s core business areas such as sales and marketing, accounting and finance, customer service and administration, and management.
Experience training individuals to write and edit PR materials including speeches, press releases, organizational brochures, etc.
Comfort with Microsoft Office, in particular Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
