We are currently seeking a qualified candidate to join the New York Life Investments Product Development Group. The candidate will contribute to the Group’s product development and project management efforts with an emphasis on alternative asset classes. This position provides an opportunity to expand upon an investment management professional’s product development and management experience in a results oriented and challenging environment.
The ideal candidate possesses a demonstrated understanding of financial markets and alternative asset classes, strong analytical and writing skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects and tasks. Additionally, the candidate will have a solid understanding of the asset management business as a whole and investment products across multiple investment vehicle types (i.e., LPs, 40 Act, QIF, SIF, UCITS).



Responsibilities:



• Collaborate with investments and distribution to drive alternative product strategy and build product structures to meet the needs of institutional, high-net worth and retail investors

• Research and analysis of industry trends, competitors and product characteristics to support product development activities

• Preparation of detailed product presentations, proposals and recommendations

• Develop and manage detailed project plans in support of product development and product enhancement initiatives

• Lead diverse cross-functional teams including representatives from portfolio management, legal, compliance, fund administration, finance, sales and marketing in executing product initiatives

• Keep abreast of sales and product development trends in the industry and make recommendations to optimize current products (i.e., pricing, liquidity terms, etc)



Qualifications:



• BA/BS required; CFA preferred

• At least 10 yrs experience in the asset management industry, with at least 5-yrs experience in product development and strategy roles.

• Broad investment management and financial market knowledge across equities, fixed income, multi-asset and alternatives

• Ability to collaborate effectively and build strong internal networks with individuals from a variety of departments and management levels

• Strong analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Demonstrated project management experience

• Ability to function in a deadline-driven environment

• Detail oriented individual with the ability to work independently and maintain high standards

• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Morningstar Direct
