Sesame Workshop is loooking for a Director of Development, Major & Principal Gifts. The Director will be responsible for working collaboratively with the VP, Development and the Development team to build and strengthen the Workshop’s presence through fundraising and engagement efforts both domestically and abroad. This role will assist the Vice President, Development in providing strategic vision for creating and implementing an individual giving effort at Sesame Workshop and will also oversee and lead cultivation and stewardship activities with major donors and potential donors.

The Director of Development, Major and Principal Gifts will assist in program strategy, pipeline building, prospect management, and event execution, all while collaboratively working with internal partners to seek opportunities for broader engagement.
The Director of Development, Major and Principal Gifts will be a member of a dynamic, fast-paced team and will report to the Vice President, Development, while working closely with the Chief Development Officer, the EVP, Global Social Impact and Philanthropy, the CEO and select members of the leadership team and Board of Trustees.
Responsibilities:
Build donor pipeline and uncover sources of new prospects to support Sesame Workshop
Focus Sesame’s efforts to increase philanthropic support from Silicon Valley and Los Angeles
Identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors capable of giving $2,500 - $100,000+ to Sesame Workshop
Manage relationships with other teams to coordinate and promote cross-pollination
Manage and execute annual Sesame Gala
Plan and execute major gift cultivation and stewardship events
Employ analytics and data for making evidence-based decisions and analyzing effectiveness/success
Assist Vice President, Development in developing the case for support and the major gift program structure and strategy
Create regional young professional program
Manage future additional major gift officer hires
Mentor and coach direct reports and foster and contribute to the Development team’s collaborative environment
Qualifications:
5-8 years of experience in major gift fundraising, relationship building, and prospect management
Bachelor’s degree, advanced degree preferred
Excellent Microsoft Office skills required
Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills
Self-starter with sound judgment and creative thinking
Familiarity with Salesforce CRM software or equivalent software
Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
Excellent interpersonal skills: strong social skills a must; ability to interact with professionalism and with a variety of personalities both internally and externally
