The CGI Los Angeles Metro seeks a Director Consulting -Chief Technical Architect to join a team serving public sector entities in the region. The Chief Technical Architect will partner with Account Leads and Business Architects to respond to our clients’ business needs with tailored solutions at an enterprise scale. The ideal candidate will combine guidance from different enterprise architecture viewpoints (business, information, technical and implementation) in order to meet business requirements while aligning to the technical requirements. The Chief Technical Architect becomes involved with a project at the time of inception (proposal process) and is involved in the functional analysis of the initial requirements. The Chief Technical Architect works very closely with the business, information, and technical architects to ensure proper implementation.
Your future duties and responsibilities:
The Chief Technical Architect has several essential duties and responsibilities, which include:
• Business Planning and General Management
o Take ownership of a particular solution offering
o Develop and execute a solution and business strategy that meets both the business and technical requirements
• Subject Matter Expertise
o Strong knowledge of principles and best practices in software architecture and architectural/design patterns and frameworks
o Survey market landscape for solution insights, direction, vendors, and methods
o Knowledge of customers’ business strategy, objectives, processes and operations
o Provides expertise to identify and translate system requirements into solution designs
o Experienced in all facets of data management lifecycle (data integration, data delivery, visualization/dashboards, analytics) from thought leadership, strategy to solutions delivery
o Work with technical writers to ensure quality client-oriented documentation
o Explain technical and complex issues in ways that non-technical persons can understand
• Business Development
o Help business development life cycle by serving as a Subject Matter Expert to help identify and qualify business development opportunities
o Provide and/or guide end to end solution and design details
o Management of processes to define effort and sizing that supports competitive costing of a solution implementation
• Methodology and Quality Assurance
o Lead development of formalized solution methodologies
o Build and maintain repository for deliverables, methodologies, and business development documents
o Interface and coordinate tasks with internal and external technical resources.
o Provide quality assurance for proposed solution
• Work Force Management, Supervision and Mentoring
Mentor and guide junior technical resources
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
1. Must have 10+ years of demonstrated solution architecture experience in an IT consulting environment on multiple software and hardware environments and be comfortable with complex heterogeneous systems environments.
2. Has led multiple projects through the Software development process or Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC), and has usually performed in a variety of different roles in that life cycle.
3. The ideal candidate has experience with both Waterfall and Agile development methodologies, digital strategy & road mapping, and IT modernization
4. Able to share and communicate ideas clearly, both orally and in writing, to executive staff, business sponsors, and technical resources in clear concise language that is the parlance of each group.
5. Experience in IT consulting for public sector preferred.
6. Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of study, such as computer science or engineering. Masters and/or certifications (e.g. ITIL, CISA) preferred.
