Director Commercial Product Counsel eBay San Jose

eBay’s innovative legal department is looking for an experienced, creative and business-oriented attorney to join the Commercial Legal Team supporting eBay’s core North America Marketplaces business. In this role, you will work closely with the General Managers of various eBay business units/verticals, providing legal support on the roll out of new features and functionality, new categories and new products, as well as to advise and provide legal support for structuring third party partnerships.
As a strong issue spotter on financial, IP, privacy and consumer protection issues, you will work closely with functional experts in our broader legal department to provide business-focused, end-to-end legal support and solutions to business and technology leaders. A significant component of this role involves the review, drafting, review and negotiation of contracts for complex strategic partnerships and the evaluation and mitigation of business risks - and the candidate must have deep and demonstrated experience in this area. In addition to working very closely with the North America business unit, you will interact regularly with functional groups within the Company on both transactional work and policy review, including Finance, Accounting, Strategic Partnerships, Corporate Development, Marketing, Tax, Information Security, Privacy, Trust and Safety and Risk.

Job Requirements:

8+ years experience with technology, mobile, or Internet space, with a preference for e-commerce
Experience in the following areas desired:
Commercial Contract drafting and negotiation;
Product counselling
Privacy/data protection
Intellectual Property
Consumer protection
High proficiency and proven experience working with business and technology leaders, and managing senior level business relationships
Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Flexible and agile thinker, with the ability to tolerate change and ambiguity
Tolerance for fast-paced work environment
Good sense of humor
JD from an ABA accredited law school
State Bar membership
Ability to cherish innovation, embrace change, and believe that there is always room for improvement
