This position will be in charge of ensuring and supporting the successful execution of our sales and marketing plans for one key category/brand (Transitions, Varilux/PALs and Crizal/AR). She/he will ensure alignment between the sales and marketing teams. The Brand/Category Captain will manage a brand/category for the company as well as a team of product champions. This role will provide product, sales and marketing expertise to maximize Sales Consultant’s effectiveness and success across channels (ECP, Retail, MVC, IDD, and Alliances).

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Steward the brand/category – guides and instills in the sales organization the passion, knowledge, tools and incentives that support the brand strategy and brand sales.
• Manages the budget development and P&L for her/his category.
• Analyzes and monitors sales performance by channel, regions, districts, and client segments.
• Develops an in-depth technical, sales and marketing knowledge of the brand/category.
• Develops a comprehensive view of product/brand competition and managed vision care integration.
• Manages a team of product champions (sales managers), responsible for the development of training curriculum, content and delivery.
• Through extensive ride-withs and client interaction, develops an in-depth understanding of challenges, opportunities and best practices of sales consultants in developing the brand/category sales.
• Ensures alignment between sales management/consultants and marketing teams.
• Works directly with Region VP’s and District Managers to ensure local market activity is aligned with product goals, marketing and the sales teams.
• Ensures category/brand is given the right level of focus within the organization including incentive plans.
• Liaises with marketing teams to determine competitive pricing.
• Participates in the development of merchandising and promotional activities of the brand/category, ensures execution and monitors the output.
• Participates with marketing in the development of marketing programs.
• Coordinates and ensures success of new product launches across channels.
• Oversees the training needs by traveling with sales consultants; observing sales consultants in the selling moment; studying sales results reports, etc.
• Improves training effectiveness by developing new approaches and techniques; making support readily available; integrating support with routine job functions.
• Develops, plans and conducts training on selling techniques for the organization's products and/or services for sales consultants and reseller partners.
• Ensures the category activities between channels and categories is aligned and does not create any confusion between brand, customers or channels.
• Recommends the nature and scope of present and future product lines by reviewing product specifications and requirements; appraising new product ideas and/or product or packaging changes.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelors Degree with extensive experience as a category manager or similar role
• Solid knowledge of sales, category management, marketing and sales training and sales principles
• 10+ years of progressive experience in Sales, Category Management, Marketing and /or Training
• Strong sales focus and problem-solving
• High drive and energy
• Strong communication skills
