Edelman Intelligence is seeking a Vice President in San Francisco. An integrated research & analytics consultancy, Edelman Intelligence is an autonomous and global business within Edelman.
Our West Coast presence is growing, and we are looking for a Vice President who will grow business, manage client engagements, and mentor junior staff. We want someone who brings the right mix of skills as a client relationship builder, research consultant, and project manager.

The Role and Responsibilities

CLIENT RELATIONSHIP BUILDING:
In business, it all starts with relationships. You will:
Create, build, and nurture relationships with Edelman teams and external clients in the bay area to generate new opportunities and build incremental business;
Fluently speak the languages of communications, marketing, business, and research – and tailor those communications to audiences of all levels of expertise;
Establish a reputation as a go-to research expert, both within the Edelman network and directly to our clients.

RESEARCH CONSULTANCY:
Data doesn’t mean anything on its own – it needs to be collected accurately and communicated effectively. You will:
Ask the right questions, identify and understand business objectives, and ultimately scope the right research that will have the most impact;
Provide strategic counsel to clients throughout all stages of the research process;
Identify insights, create stories, and effectively present research results to drive strategy and enable clients to accomplish their business objectives.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT:
It’s not all strategizing – we need someone who can execute. You will:
Manage complex quantitative and qualitative research from end-to-end, including coordinating execution staff, liaising with analysts in our Research and Innovation Technology Center in Rochester, NY, and overseeing creation of effective research reports;
Lead operational and financial performance of account teams, set timelines and ensure that they are met, and ensure that client requests and incidental events are responded to quickly and appropriately;
Mentor and manage both direct and indirect reports to ensure that projects are completed – and employee expertise is being developed – effectively.



Qualifications:
You have 8-10 years of experience in market research, public and/or corporate affairs, insights creation, strategy development, or consultancy.

You also have demonstrated experience in:
Various types of research engagements, potentially including:
Corporate reputation;
Message, brand, design, website, campaign, and/or strategy testing;
Thought leadership;
Measurement and optimization;
Brand positioning.
Quantitative research, potentially including:
Surveys;
Dial testing;
Media analysis;
Digital analytics;
Statistical analysis techniques
Qualitative research, potentially including:
Focus groups;
In-depth interviews;
Online communities.
Account management and client consulting, potentially including:
Relationship building, business development, and client management;
Effective synthesis and communication of research insights;
Fluency in the language of marketing, public affairs, branding, communications, and general business strategy;
Project management skills, including time and financial oversight;
Managing and mentoring direct and indirect reports.
