The candidate will play a key role in driving the development and execution of supply chain strategies for some of Microsoft’s most innovative products. This is a unique leadership role in the operations group that manages all end-to-end supply chain performance and sets the supply chain strategy for a particular line of business. The role has a high level of visibility and direct interaction strategically and tactically with executive levels in the organization. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in supply chain/operations disciplines and strategies. This person will also require program management skills, communication skills, and the ability to interact with everyone from NPI Program Managers to Manufacturing & Sourcing engineers to Executives.

This position gets involved early in the development cycle of new products to define the supply chain strategy and establish the operations plan for the organization. The person then coordinates across functions to develop any supply chain infrastructure improvements that are needed to support the strategy and plan. Over the course of the product and business lifecycle, this leader plays an instrumental role in ensuring the operating plan continues to evolve and meet financial objectives and mitigate ongoing risks. This involves coordination of the Operating Plan across Suppliers, Manufacturing, Sourcing, Logistics, Finance and Sales/Marketing. As required we will also depend on this leader to solve emerging problems through focused problem-solving and process redesign projects across the supply chain. The role is also involved in capacity strategies and ensuring continuity of supply. Of course, this all requires periodic updates and alignment with executives.

This position has no direct reports, but it is considered a strong leadership position in the organization that drives the hardware supply chain team’s engagement for key products.
