Made up of smart, perceptive Googlers with a flair for domestic, international and sales & use tax, the knowledge and expertise of this team runs deep. You have years of experience in this field and an extensive knowledge of those tax issues most relevant to internet companies. While we don't give our Googlers individual tax advice, you make it easy for Googlers to get what they need to make good tax decisions. You find ways to work smarter by streamlining and automating our tax processes and systems, and find ways to be both innovative and compliant.

Advise on domestic income tax issues related to new businesses and products, M&A activities, corporate structure and reorganizations, consolidated returns, hedge program, stock and compensation, tax credits, new laws and other key tax projects and initiatives
Manage all domestic tax positions and collaborate with various teams to ensure they are properly accounted for tax compliance and tax accounting purposes
Research, analyze and compose technical memorandums on emerging legislative and tax policy developments, prepare and review federal income tax issues and/or exposure items analysis for income tax (ASC 740, FIN 48/FAS 109), and provide audit defense support
Assist in the design, development and monitoring of SOX compliance internal controls for domestic tax matters
Oversee tax staff to meet objectives and actively engage in developing/mentoring tax staff
Qualifications
Minimum qualifications:
BA/BS degree in Accounting, Business Administration or similar, or equivalent practical experience.
12 years of experience in a corporate tax department.
Preferred qualifications:
Advanced degree in relevant discipline: JD/LLM, Master's in Taxation, MBA or CPA.
Strong technical tax skills with emphasis on corporate income tax principles including familiarity with tax issues related to M&A activities. A general understanding of Subchapter C and the consolidated return regulations, and experience applying multi-state corporate income tax principles.
Solid accounting skills including significant exposure to ASC 740.
Thorough working knowledge of tax law, GAAP, and regulatory requirements (SOX).
Action-oriented self starter with excellent project management and leadership skills; ability to handle and prioritize multiple time sensitive projects.
Ability to collaborate with cross-functional business partners at all levels and strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to explain complex tax matters to non-tax professionals.
