The Director of Enterprise Architecture (EA) is a technology leader with business acumen who will build a best in class Enterprise Architecture organization and vision to enable innovation in Adobe IT and accelerate delivery.
The leader of EA will collaborate and develop strong trust-based relationships with leaders across Business, IT, and Cloud Technology (CT) to:

Analyze new and emerging technologies and create new strategic opportunities for IT
Educate the leadership on technology and roadmaps and how they can help achieve Adobe’s strategic goals
Understand the current challenges, opportunities, and business strategy and in turn, translate into IT strategy; develop future state architecture and roadmaps that aligns across business and IT
Assess the existing technologies and establish the technology roadmap for the future that enables support of innovation while investing in current technologies as needed
Educate across all groups to make appropriate build vs. buy decisions
Foster alignment on integrated technology planning; drive agreement on principles of design and prioritization of objectives across diverse lines of business
Collaborate and influence architects, development and engineering teams to evangelize and gain commitment on architecture discipline and governance
Present at Executive Briefing Center sessions with customers; External speaking engagements to promote IT and Adobe’s brand
The EA leader will build strong relationships with Adobe’s customers key technology organizations, consultancies, vendors and external forums to keep current on leading industry technology trends. Assess and drive long-term roadmap to support Adobe’s business strategy, go-to-market plans and product roadmap.
The EA leader is also well-versed with current architectural best practices and is able to apply them across a breadth of technologies to orchestrate a solution. He(S) can articulate a view on the future development of technology, and the interactions between infrastructure and application architecture.
He(S) will build and evolve a small team of technical architectural experts that collaborate and provide guidance to engineering, business stakeholders, and customers in defining the technology roadmap and become trusted advisors to Business, CT and IT leaders.
What you’ll do
Provide a vision for all aspects of establishing and managing the IT Enterprise Architecture practice that spans across the entire technology spectrum of business, applications, data, and infrastructure
Partner with business stakeholders to apply a structured business architecture approach and methodology for capturing enterprise business capability and developing roadmaps that guide strategic enterprise initiatives in support of the business short, medium and long-term objectives
Lead the IT strategic planning process to develop the IT Strategy to achieve business goals by fostering innovation, prioritizing IT initiatives and management of current and future IT capabilities
Establish relationships to deeply engage with product engineering teams to evolve the IT Strategy
Provide insight into impacts, constraints, risks and opportunities to support the IT strategic planning process across Adobe
Collaborate across IT and CT to create and implement technical and architectural standards and governance across Adobe; provide technology direction, with a tight alignment between business & product strategy
Develop and deliver a multi-year technology roadmap that defines current technical and future architecture that outlines the steps/iterations required to fully enable the strategy and is accepted and adopted by all stakeholders
Develop and deliver an actionable target and reference architectures for each step of the roadmap while adhering to enterprise principles, policies and standards
Oversee and guide software architecture processes, decisions, and related forums to identify, evaluate, prototype, and implement key technologies, leading to an integrated, scalable, and cost-effective architecture
Develop and maintain a comprehensive technical blueprint of the team's services, creating solution options that align IT services with business goals and strategies with consideration of both technical and non-technical implications and trade-offs
Provide architecture, design, technical leadership and governance within EA, development and engineering teams throughout the execution of the roadmap
Partner with IT Vendor Management Office to understand the impact of vendor pricing on solutions to make decisions on buy vs. build decisions
Lead a core group of IT Enterprise Architects that is responsible for the IT Strategy, roadmaps and actionable architectures for all capabilities
Build relationships with key architects at Adobe to develop and promote architectural best practices
What you need to succeed
Proven track record with 7+ years of pragmatic experience in enterprise architecture, with experience operating in a SaaS environment, E-commerce, Web Content Management, Digital Platform system/package implementation
10+ years of Service Life Cycle/Software Development experience in large, complex systems
Exceptional oral and written communication skills with the ability to interact with senior management, technical subject matter experts, and business customers are paramount
Executive presence and influence – develop, collaborate and maintain strong relationships with both internal and external customers at both technical and executive level
Demonstrate leadership - building effective teams, developing others, having strong peer relationships, and managing and executing innovations
Ability to build a high performing IT EA organization that delivers with quality and operational results
Possess strong strategic focus
Exceptional analytical and technology skills, with grounding in architecture
Demonstrate enterprise-wide understanding of processes, systems & data of the business
Demonstrate understanding of broader architecture impact from an end-to-end perspective
Ability to quickly evaluate and assimilate information about new technologies
Experienced with varied deployment strategies: hosted, internal cloud, external cloud and on premise
Knowledgeable of current application technologies: mobile, social media, analytics, artificial learning, machine language and business intelligence
