As the Director of Project Management Office, the successful incumbent will support the achievement of projects by provide expert consulting service, leadership and coaching to ensure effective project and program management, ensure consistency, and enable continuous improvement of project results across large corporate accounts.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and establish project management policies and guidelines and provide training and oversight ensuring projects meet standards and follow processes
• Plan, implement and continuously improve project management best practices and tool sets to streamline project processes / procedures and maximize performance
• Provide strong leadership, technical guidance, coaching, support, and human resource management to an assigned group of experienced Project Managers.
• Work with Service Line Leaders and Project Teams to plan, design and implement capital programs that meet client and industry standards, ensuring multi-location consistency across Canada and the United States.
• Develop, deploy and manage project management resource allocation tools; manage resource allocations with a focus on business viability.
• Work with Project Service Line Leaders and Project Managers to establish enterprise wide continuity in the development of detailed project plans, schedules and budgets to ensure the highest quality of output in accordance to project requirements.
• Develop and deploy on-going project management training programs for the PJM platform.
• Responsible for ensuring overall alignment of project /program/portfolio management processes and practices within the Client platforms.
• Develop, maintain and monitor key metrics and measurements at the individual project and portfolio level.
• Ensure that Project and Program Management processes are kept current, metrics on process effectiveness and efficiency are produced and project teams are kept abreast of any changes to processes, practices and associated metrics.
• Define and drive excellent project controls, project governance and financial governance.
• Plan and develop business and project management processes, workflow models, standards and tools in support of project service delivery teams.
• Plan, implement and continuously improve project management best practices and tool sets to streamline project processes / procedures and maximize operational effectiveness.
• Provide centralized reporting and planning services to project teams
• Responsible for accurate, timely status reporting in accordance with account SLAs.
• Develop working relationships with client’s team, the client’s lines of business, external vendors, and partnership vendors in a proactive and professional manner.
• Develop and maintain project and audit controls by focusing on 6 key areas: Quality Assurance and Quality Control; Tools and Methodologies, Continuous Improvement, Reporting Standards: Document Management and On-going training.
• Build strong relationships with stakeholders, ensuring the delivery of effective, client-focused services.

• Post Secondary College or University education in Project Management, Business or related discipline.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive project management experience, at least 3 years of which are in a management capacity and minimum of 5 years of demonstrated successful experience working in a PMO environment.
• Demonstrated knowledge and success in the following: strategic thinking, whole systems perspective, partnership building, strong organizational agility, creativity
• Proven success in gaining credibility and building trust with senior decision makers in a large organizations
• Experience working on large national real estate portfolios/programs
• Strong working knowledge of corporate real estate and real estate development (municipal approvals, site selection, design development, etc.), programming, project planning, detailed estimating, scheduling, interior fit-up and base building construction techniques, critical systems infrastructure, systems furniture, leasing, contract administration, portfolio and program management.
• PMI-PMP and/or Six Sigma designation preferred, with a working knowledge of the PMBOK .A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge., Project Management Institute.
• Substantial experience in dealing with professional service providers such as architects, interior designers, engineering firms, construction managers, cost consulting firms, brokerage firms, general contractors.
• Seasoned influential skills sufficient to resolve distinct differences of opinion or approach; promote or negotiate on our clients behalf.
• Advanced writing skills to prepare material where detailed (technical) description, explanation and the accurate use of specialized terminology is necessary to effectively communicate.
• Advanced presentation skills to present, rationalize, and debate with client executive. Proven leadership abilities to motivate, manage and direct staff resulting in a consistent well managed service to the client.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to quickly develop client and supplier relationships in a rapidly changing environment.
• Proven knowledge of all aspects of project management processes including estimating, tendering, scheduling, design drawing interpretation, construction practices, value engineering, tendering, design build, risk analysis, alternative procurement methods, and SOX compliance processes.
• Strong knowledge of building codes, occupational health and labour regulations.
