Amazon is recruiting a highly motivated Director who will be responsible for running the Services Organization for the technology teams within Amazon’s multi-billion dollar Marketplace business. This role is responsible for: Operational Excellence; Software Efficiency, Security; Persistence Technology; Website and Mobile Test Automation; Quality Assurance and Infrastructure Cost Control for the systems deployed by the 1200+ strong software development team.

The Marketplace Technology team is responsible for building the tools used by third-party Sellers. Today more than 50% of units sold on Amazon are sold by these Sellers. Marketplace adds unique selection for our customers and helps entrepreneurs - there are over 70,000 sellers with sales of more than $100,000 a year selling on Amazon, and they’ve created over 600,000 new jobs. Our Marketplace creates opportunities for Sellers to reach buyers around the world. To globalize Marketplace and expand the opportunities available to Sellers, we build selling tools that empower entrepreneurs in 172 countries to reach customers in 189 countries. These cross-border sales are now nearly a quarter of all third-party units sold on Amazon. To support these Sellers the Marketplace Technology team builds the tools that allow 3rd party Sellers to register on the platform, create new listings, and manage their inventory, pricing, orders and payments across Seller Central, Marketplace Web Services APIs (MWS), and the Mobile Seller app. We develop micro-service solutions that operate at scale (trillions of transaction per year) leveraging AWS technologies deploying into a cloud based architecture. Our solutions include big data analytics that process 100TB of data to make pricing, inventory, and selection recommendations to our Sellers; Machine Learning; and Image Processing.

In this highly visible role the successful candidate will interact with a broad cross section of the Amazon organization to improve the overall Operational Services of the organization and root out any issues uncovered along the way. Basic Qualifications

- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field, plus a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience
- At least 10 years of experience leading DevOps organizations supporting large technology teams
- Effective written and oral communication with all levels of the organization including senior leadership
- Experience effectively delivering solutions which scale globally and are highly reliable
- Ability to prioritize and synthesize action items from disparate options and trains of thought
- Mature judgment, negotiation, and leadership skills
- Results oriented, high energy, self-motivated

Strong organizational planning and development, business judgment, technical leadership, and communication skills
Cognizant of the end-user/customer experience
Ability to lead multiple simultaneous product development efforts and/or technology projects and initiatives
An analytical mind that thrives in a data-driven environment
Degree in mathematics, computer science, or related discipline preferred
Master’s degree and/or PhD preferred in mathematics, computer science, or related discipline
2+ years as development manager or director preferred
