We are seeking a talented and creative director to work closely with the desks across the newsroom to produce video on projects coming out of the paper.
The director will oversee development, pre-production, field production, editing and post production of video and interactive projects produced by video journalists and editors on staff as well as freelancers. The ideal candidate will be able to handle both the creative and logistical process involved in creating compelling videos and interactive projects, components and other audience engagement techniques.
Watch: Career Advice The ideal candidate should have a sound understanding of journalistic practices and ethics. S/he must be a dedicated news consumer and documentary film/interactive viewer. S/he will need to be self-driven, collaborative and able to lead and motivate a team.
REQUIREMENTS:
5+ years experience managing the execution of original reporting, video content and interactives
A deep experience at a top-tier journalism organization and a world-class sense of how to tell visual stories most effectively
Ability to identify, vet, and pitch original and investigative stories with international focus and appeal
Willingness to experiment and push the envelope with digital video storytelling
Strong leadership and management skills, including the ability to attract and develop top talent and to collaborate with other Times coverage leaders
Strong collaborator, able to work with the rest of the NYT newsroom to create compelling journalism by enhancing our core report, overseeing deep investigative reporting, and creating new types of content
