Director of Strategy will work with key stakeholders to identify, structure and solve the most pressing strategic questions facing the Events business. This will require defining and implementing creative solutions to complex, often ambiguous, problems that drive meaningful and measurable business impact demonstrated through increased Event attendance, retention or Sponsorship revenue. Representative projects include:

Outlining the vision for the CIO events portfolio through 2020 (i.e., number, location and launch date of Events)
Defining the optimal territory size and territory assignment approach for the Event ticket sales team
Proposing tactics to actively manage event attendance mix to achieve our desired attendee composition by event

This individual will play a central role in the annual long range planning (LRP) process, which involves answering a single or series of questions that are deemed to be of highest strategic priority for the business. Last year’s topic spurred a critical business imperative to accelerate the growth of CIO attendees – to attract 20,000 CIO’s to Gartner events by the year 2020. Key responsibilities in the LRP will include defining initial hypotheses, drafting storylines, and identifying / driving the key analytics needs.

This individual will also use data / analytics to answer critical business questions, often informing C-level strategic decisions. Representative examples include:

Analyzing large attendance datasets (e.g., RFID) to identify on-site behavior patterns that predict an increased likelihood of repeat attendance
Using post-Event survey responses to assess the impact on attendee experience of key components of Event architecture, to support program management in optimizing event programs and content.
