Director Strategy Business Development Essilor Dallas

The Director of Strategy & Business Development will report to the Vice President, Digital and will lead the development and execution of strategic programs and initiatives to strengthen Essilor’s competitive position. S/he will work closely with Essilor’s senior leadership team to assess, evaluate, and recommend solutions in a variety of areas ranging from operational and business processes, data access and intelligence, technology platforms to support sales channels, managed care, organizational design, product portfolio, market and consumer research, acquisition target identification and diligence, executive level presentations, internal & external performance metrics and other special topics.

Primary Responsibilities
Strategy Development & Execution
• Drive the development of the short and long term US strategy including supporting implementation of strategic initiatives agreed upon by the leadership team
• Proactively anticipate business opportunities, and lead investigation, design and execution of those initiatives - analyze solutions, build the business case, influence stakeholders, and drive execution and change
• Provide guidance to business units on certain strategic initiatives and take the lead in others. Scope, plan, and structure the work, and gain alignment with the operating company leaders on timeline, implications and key metrics
• Develop and implement financial models and other quantitative and qualitative assessment tools for strategic analysis, business valuation, profitability analysis, etc.
• Conduct qualitative and quantitative research in order to assess market, customers, competitors and technology, including survey design and analysis, customer focus groups, benchmarking, forecasting, etc.
• Build credibility with business unit leaders and their teams, and make meaningful contributions to the strategic direction and key decisions of their organizations
• Collaborate with a range of internal stakeholders to develop recommendations and gain alignment
• Develop the Strategy team by recruiting, on-boarding, and mentoring team members
Business Development
• Partner with the leadership team to identify and evaluate potential technology and service related acquisition opportunities. Conduct primary and secondary research on target companies and their markets, channels, and competitors; analyze the target company’s value proposition, competitive position, and financial performance to assess opportunities to create value post-acquisition.
• Identify and monitor industry and technology trends, channel evolution, and key competitors’ strategies and tactics; identify and evaluate issues that could potentially impact operating company’s competitive position, and financial performance
• Lead the development of best practices – frameworks, models, templates, playbooks, etc. for consistent, reliable and repeatable execution

Executive Support
• Provide ongoing communications to the senior leadership team as appropriate
• Prepare for key internal and external executive workshops and briefings
• Facilitate joint problem-solving sessions with senior-level business partners
• Maintain a passion for continual improvement of company processes and organization, and contribute to the ongoing development of systems, people, and overall success

Skills and Qualifications
• 8-12 years of relevant experience, including 3-4 years with top-tier strategy consulting firm
• Undergraduate in business or related field required. MBA from a top program highly preferred
• Prior team lead or manager experience, leading strategic projects and cross-functional teams
• Strong ability to understand and identify key levers that create business value and model those to develop business cases and ROI’s
• Demonstrated ability to enthusiastically and aggressively take ownership of a project, prioritize effectively and lead execution from start to finish with a sense of urgency on all tasks
• Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
• Excellent quantitative, analysis and research skills
• Excellent verbal, presentation, writing and editing skills with comfort in developing deliverables for executive level audiences
• Advanced influencing and negotiation skills
• Experience presenting and communicating ideas and plans to all levels of management and most senior executives
• Ability to travel as needed
