The Microsoft Stores Marketing team is actively recruiting for a Director of Marketing, Retail Stores. In this role, the Director will be responsible for building and overseeing the marketing strategy and execution for our 100+ brick and mortar stores globally. The Director will partner with our Store Operations organization to drive brand consistency, marketing impact, traffic, and revenue for our stores.

Specifically, this role will be responsible for 4 key areas:
1. Conduit/relationship with Stores Operations team Partner closely with the Store Operations leadership team to understand needs of the field and incorporate voice of customer and field into marketing planning. Share and communicate in-store marketing plans, weekly set, planogram and visual merchandising with the Operations team Create a forum for exchange of feedback between Marketing and Store Operations teams. Participate in Innovation Store process to co-create new in-store marketing and visual merchandising approaches. Regularly visit stores
2. In-store marketing, planogram and visual merchandising Develop overall creative strategy and vision for in-store marketing and visual merchandising that accurately portrays and represents the Microsoft retail store brand. Set expectations and standards for all aspects of visual merchandising and brand standards. Create and maintain compelling in-store marketing and visual merchandising that will engage customers and help stimulate customer conversations and sales. Develop and manage planogram traits that are store specific to ensure all stores are correctly assorted for their footprint. Concept development and solution execution of visual merchandising solutions that work across all store locations and accommodates for unique sizes and layouts of stores. Create weekly store set guidance and planograms. Conduct workback schedule that allows for advance planning and evaluation of planned store set guidance. Complete integration of product group messaging into in-store marketing and visuals to support specific products, while maintaining compelling and consistent consumer experience in line with overall brand. Work across multiple teams (merchandising, experience, readiness, operations, retail technology) in order to bring creative concepts to life in-store Insure all store locations have store set materials and guidance in a timely manner to execute store set changes. Manage store requests for fixtures and signage. Actively monitor store performance and feedback and incorporate into rapid changes in visual merchandising to enable sales. Evaluate new process and technology solutions to improve efficiency and consistency of execution and communications.
3. Events and programs marketing Drive qualified traffic to our stores through development and execution of event programming, including workshops, product launches, grand openings, PR events, and more. Create events and program curriculum to support key products and programs. Examples include Summer Camp programming, product workshops, SMB workshops, etc. This responsibility includes development of event content, marketing materials, promotion ideas and offers; packaging of materials into “Event in a Box” ongoing communication with our local store teams; and monitoring and measurement of event results. Provide guidance and direction to Community Development Specialists in our store. This guidance should include workshop and program content, marketing templates, suggested programming calendars, and more. Oversee grand opening events for any new store locations. Planning and execution of unique events in support of PR opportunities and other initiatives, such as Microsoft Brand partnerships. Partner with Retail Technology to identify event technology needs (registration, online events, etc) to better meet the needs of customers and CDS team. Create online equivalent of event types to extend event experiences to online.
4. Team Management Lead and manage a team of marketing professionals. Team functions include visual merchandising, in-store marketing and collateral, planogram, fixture development, and event marketing. Manage agency relationships related to the various functions in the team. Develop rhythm of the business and communication vehicles to properly communicate with Store Operations and the Stores Leadership Team.

Ideal candidate will have: 10 years of related experience in retail marketing, event marketing, visual merchandising and marketing communications Consumer marketing experience, preferably in retail Excellent creative design skills, knowledge of visual merchandising and product presentation techniques, and strong project management skills Strong people management experience and proven history of building high functioning teams Experience managing agency relationships Ability to work cross group and drive results across external and internal constituents Experience developing and delivering marketing plans to senior executive management Bachelor’s degree required, MBA preferred
