Manage software engineering team and individual personnel (potentially across multiple locations).
Provide the technical direction, development oversight, and deployment of STRATA’s Media Sales products (non-invoice). Technical direction includes the system/application architecture, standards, and tools used to create the software.
Responsible for a regular release schedule of bug-free, client focused and technically efficient code. This leader will manage the release schedule and be responsible for deployment coordination with TAPS as well as advance (internal) communication.
Serve as the chief development process master, maintaining short-term and long-term development process, documenting this through Rally (or similar platform), and hosting a daily scrum meeting, bi-weekly Sprint Planning meeting, and bi-weekly Sprint Retrospective meeting.
Plan and execute projects to deliver new product releases. In conjunction with the product team, accountable for the schedule, cost, and functionality goals for the products and projects.
Manage cross-functional team on product roadmaps, program budgets, and sales or business development opportunities. Coordinate engineering contributions to sales and support activities, deliverables, sales proposals, deployment plans, demonstrations and prototypes, and trouble ticket resolutions.
Participate with Product Management, sales, and operations to set long term product and market solution strategy.
Contribute to development, review, and maintenance of product functional specifications.
Define contents, schedule and drive delivery of product service packs as needed.
Define and implement processes such as project lifecycle management, defect tracking, source code management, and field issue escalation.
Contribute to development and review of product documentation, training materials, white papers, and marketing communications.
Perform other duties as required.
Direct reports include the software developers. Indirect reports include the product managers, trainers, and QA personnel. This position reports to the VP, Media Sales with “dotted line” reporting to VP, Engineering.

Job Knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA’s)
Project planning, project tracking, and project lifecycle management skills.
Ability to handle multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced work environment and to contribute to all aspects of the software product development process.
Very strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
Requirements analysis and use case analysis.
Solid understanding of networking topologies, components, standards.
Experience in multimedia and streaming protocols a plus.
Ability to lead and interface with cross-functional teams.
Working conditions
The SDSM will work at the company’s offices in Chicago. Some limited travel may be required. The SDSM will be expected to dress and behave professionally, acting as a role model for other technical staff.

Minimum qualifications and experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Engineering
10 years industry experience; at least 5 years in management preferred.
5 years of increasing responsibility in software engineering development of large data intensive systems.
Experience in cross platform technologies.
