Director Partner Technology Strategy Microsoft Redmond

This role reports into the Vice President of the Hosting and Managed Service Providers organization. The mission of the Hosting and Managed Service Providers organization is to define and execute the strategy to drive cloud services to 220+ million end customers through an ecosystem of nearly 30,000 partners.

The Hosting Service Providers team today serves nearly 30,000 partners selling hosted solutions to a broad range of customers (Small and Medium to Enterprise). The business has been growing in the last 5 years. Due to the demand for cloud services around the world, all projections show that this business will further accelerate in the foreseeable future. The growth rate is of course attracting strong competitors in the market (Google, VMWare, Cisco, Amazon Web Services, IBM/Softlayer) offering a broad set of solutions and innovative business models. We are well positioned with product offerings for both infrastructure (Azure, Windows Server, Hyper-V, System Center, SQL Server) as well as applications (O365, Exchange, Sharepoint, Lync) offerings and so the execution of our strategy will be key to gain share and win this market. In particular we believe our relationship with channel partners and service providers is a key competitive advantage that we leverage and foster. You will drive the adoption of Microsoft cloud services and technologies with the top and most critical HMSP partners, including Cloud Only MSPs, Hosters, Telcos, and Market Makers These partners expect to have deep engagement with Microsoft both on the business and technology side and the primary role of the HMSP Director of Technical Strategy, will be to build deep relationships with the CTOs of these companies.
The HMSP Technology Leader will:
- Lead a team of Cloud Solution Architects that will engage with 50-70 strategic Cloud Only MSP partners - Build and foster a community of Partner CTOs
- Influence adoption of Microsoft Cloud Services in their offerings as well Microsoft technologies in partners datacenters.
This will include supporting other roles in Executive briefings and other sales events
- Communicate Microsoft vision and product roadmap to the CTO community, collect their feedback and share it with our Engineering teams - Influence Engineering to develop technologies, features and products that will help Cloud Only MSPs other HMSP partners expand their Microsoft based offerings
- Provide Executive Support for the HMSP PTS community
- Be the spokeperson of Microsoft in industry specific events, such as Hosting and Cloud summit, and World Hosting Days
The HMSP Technology Leader will be measured in terms of successful technical engagements with 50-70 strategic Cloud Only MSP partners as well as overall team revenues at WW level, partner satisfaction, and impact on product development.
Qualification for this role requires deep understanding of cloud services technologies, particularly on Infrastructure as a Service, Platform as a Service, Database as a Service, and other cloud based offerings. Experience as CTO of a Service Provider is definitely a plus together with an established industry reputation. Strong communication and relationship skills, executive maturity, technology vision, and thought leadership are required as well. This role requires up to 50% travel time.
