The Microsoft Global Events Marketing is seeking an energetic and high caliber individual to take on a Senior Event Marketing role, leading a team which is responsible for delivering the creation, logistics, strategy, and execution of 1st and 3rd party events across a highly visible and growing portfolio of events.

In this role, you will drive thought leadership, contribute to building the event strategy aligned to business objectives to ensure event success and excellence in event marketing execution. We are seeking a team member who will bring an ability to balance the needs of the multiple clients (internal event business owners, team directors, GM, CVPs and others), strategy and execution challenges. You should also be able to demonstrate strong proficiency with key role competencies including exceptional communication, presentation, and organizational skills, a passion for excellence, strong cross-team collaboration abilities, self-motivated and forward looking, and the ability to work as a part of an extended “virtual” team. Deliverables and Responsibilities include:
• Management of a team responsible for an expanding portfolio, currently; six 3rd party industry events; 3 global thought leadership events; support for four flagship hosted international external events and several dozen internal and smaller events annually.
• Partnership with other senior leaders in the team to ensure measurable impact for the marketing organization and broader Microsoft
• Create and gain support for shared vision for event strategy across multiple partner teams and provide confident leadership to teams aligning against shared business outcomes
• Drive on ramp and demand for customers to transition from 1st party and 3rd party events to 1st party premium experiences.
• Manage team to optimize One Microsoft experiences within 3rd party context.
• Oversee project management including budget management, revenue generation, accounting, venue selection, vendor sourcing and management, project plan management, event promotion and registration, on-site event management, prioritization and issue resolution
• Utilize measurement and analytics to deliver event against expected business results and key performance targets and to improve event impact /efficiency. Analyze event, industry and competitive data.
• Identify staffing needs, vendors and staff options and selection, team motivation and performance
• Travel for event pre and show dates. Travel estimated to be 15%+ and could include weekends and international destination
• This position requires frequent contact with all levels across the company including business groups, senior executives, field marketing groups, and external suppliers.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
• Solid strategic project management (people, money and time) experience and organizational skills, including the ability to set and drive requirements across multiple functional areas
• Broad event experience with agency and/or enterprise across a range of event types and host companies (corporate, event producers, sponsors, etc.)
• Deep knowledge of the objectives, role, and ROI from hosting 1st party events and sponsoring/exhibiting at 3rd party events.
• Excellent communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, presentation, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills are required.
• Deep understanding of commercial, technical, business audiences- IT Professionals, Developers, Business Decision Makers, Partner, Employees, and others
• Strong technical understanding, and preferably usage, of the Microsoft ecosystem including Windows 10, Office 365, Skype, Bing and others
• Collaboration and cross team partnerships
• Self-motivated and directed person, requiring minimal supervision for successful assignment completion.
Minimum Qualifications include:
• Bachelor’s degree in Business or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum eight years of event management experience in a business or hi-tech industry
• People management- demonstration of driving teams to achieve specific goals
• Project Management experience with large budgets, teams and complex schedules
