We seek a global benefits leader and strategic thinker who understands the design and strategy of global benefits plans and how to develop and implement such programs within the framework of a dynamic, fast-paced and expanding global financial services firm. This individual must be able to successfully operate within a matrixed and complex environment where people work together enthusiastically and effectively to produce superior results and raise the performance of others around them.

Lead the design, governance and implementation of a benefits strategy that aligns with BlackRock’s overall talent strategy and firm objectives.
Ownership and accountability for the plans and programs underlying the benefits strategy including, but not limited to, retirement plans, an employee stock purchase plan, deferred compensation plans, health plans, life and disability insurances, employee assistance programs and broader work-life and wellness programing
Collaborate and leverage relationships effectively within Human Resources and key stakeholders of the firm including executive management, Finance, Legal, Communications and Procurement as well as external partners to inform and execute on a benefits strategy.
Provide leadership in the development of competitive, cost-effective benefit programs through monitoring offerings, costs, consultant engagement, scope and performance analytics.
Drive change through thought leadership and serving as the firm’s subject matter expert through understanding current global and local industry trends, broader best practices and strategically applying them within the firm.
Ownership of the governance of the benefits programs, with specific reference to the US Retirement Committee.
Identify opportunities to increase benefit offerings while maintaining costs to both the firm and employees as well as ensuring positive value on investment.
Evaluate and negotiate services, coverage, premiums and options available through third party vendors to determine the most suitable programs, consulting, brokering and administrative platforms to best meet the needs of the firm.
Knowledge of laws and regulations related to employee benefits, including ERISA, PPA, PPACA, HIPAA and COBRA.
Ensure that the firm is compliant in regards to world-wide and regional legislation for retirement benefits plans and that all required filings are submitted accurately and by established deadlines.
Partner with various key stakeholders to communicate program objectives throughout the entire organization utilizing a broad range of channels and programs.
Oversee global benefits budget including cost of plans/programs to employees as well as the associated administrative, legal, consulting, brokerage and audit costs etc.
Develop a high-performing benefits team through setting goals, performance standards and measureable metrics. Develop functional competencies, career paths and individual development plans to ensure team maintains high performance.
• Advise and periodically update Blackrock senior management including: Chief Executive Officer, President, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer on trends and potential strategies in the benefits space.
• Manage key partner and provider relationships including instances where the partner is a Platinum client of Blackrock with mutual C-level relationships.
Skills and Qualifications:
At least ten (10) years’ experience of diverse benefits experience in a leadership role, ideally within a global, public company. Prior experience with a leading benefits consultancy is a significant plus.
Demonstrated record of progressive responsibility managing the benefits function within a multinational, complex matrixed organization.
Progressive thinker with knowledge of current market trends, pending legislation and best practices with respect to global benefits including: benefits transformation, global retirement governance, defined contribution and relationship management.
Strong business acumen with the proven ability to understand how benefits link back to the company’s employee value proposition, business objectives and the business of the firm.
Success working with an outsourced operations model. Management effectiveness in overseeing and orchestrating vendor relationships providing retirement and health/welfare services.
Demonstrated initiative to analyze and resolve problems quickly, efficiently, and collaboratively; has the ability to anticipate future trends/consequences and create innovative strategies.
Demonstrable experience leading and developing high performing teams and a proven ability to influence results.
Ability to effectively communicate with executives at the highest level of the organization.
Undergraduate degree in Human Resources Management, business or related disciplines is preferred. MBA or relevant Masters’ degree is highly desirable.
Strong skills in data analytics, project management, decision-making, critical thinking and learning agility required for the role.
Proven problem solving skills – including the ability to analyze and resolve issues quickly, efficiently and collaboratively.
Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
Financial services experience required but broad industry experience welcomed.
