The Director of Data Center Technology will be responsible for project service transition, service operations, continual service improvement and data center continuity for NBCU’s Data Center Technology including internal, hosted and cloud data center services.

Job Purpose
The position will play a key role in influencing direction, leading change, and shaping the future of the Data Centers for the NBCU Technology organization. Reporting to the SR, Director – Data Center Technology, the Director will develop processes and report on metrics to manage data center operations, lead/assist in architectural design of data center infrastructure and technologies, develop technical standards, monitor and report on key performance indicators associated with data center facilities and accompanying technologies and partner with various infrastructure and business personnel on project initiatives and enhancements. The Director will be responsible for analyzing, evaluating, designing and implementing procedures in order to increase operational efficiency & effectiveness for infrastructure & application monitoring processes & tools. The Director will lead/assist in the continued evolution of NBCU’s cloud strategies, and be responsible for ensuring continuity of data center infrastructure within it’s environments.

Responsibilities:
• Lead/assist NBCU Technology teams on cloud service management including service transition and service operations
• Develop and drive strategies and programs which improve the operational effectiveness & efficiency of the organization
• Review and develop procedures/workflows ensuring customers are being provided with exceptional service
• Lead & assist in the development, maintenance, enhancement of security policies and procedures for NBCU Owned, Hosted & Data Center Cloud Services
• Implement System Management Tools to provide monitoring and management of all infrastructure within the data centers
• Lead & assist with data protection initiatives
• Develop, publish & maintain site shutdown & recovery documents for all NBCU owned and hosted data centers. Perform bi-annual reviews of these procedures with infrastructure teams and lead continual service improvement initiatives
• Ensure that assets across all data centers and associated applications are properly documented, and inventories updated
• Interface with divisional, departmental and facilities leads to maintain escalation and response plans; collaborate with Incident Command Center and Disaster Recovery personnel during Major Incidents
• Lead/assist in the preparation and operational coordination of effective disaster response and recovery within data centers
• Recommend recovery strategies & options and organize/lead the implementation of testing scenarios
• Develop and present executive summaries/dashboard reporting as required to business senior leadership (CIOs, VPs)
• Develop and present snapshot and trend analyses for capacity and operational availability, requests and incident/problem/change management
• Be a technology expert – passionate about technology, automation, programming, tooling, and solutions development
• Define and report Key Performance Indicators to monitor process health; define and report Customer facing service metrics
Qualifications/Requirements Basic Qualifications/Requirements:
• Bachelor degree in Information Management or Systems, Computer Science, Engineering or other related technology field
• Minimum of five years of Data Center Service Management, including facility and infrastructure hosting
• Proven experience in cloud technologies and provisioning
• Proven experience in developing/executing upon data center continuity/disaster recovery initiatives
• Proven experience utilizing Microsoft Office tools
• Proven knowledge in Windows/UNIX/LINUX operational support
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Strong customer communication skills (interpersonal/oral/written) with an ability to communicate complex technical design concepts and translate into non-technical business solutions
