Apple’s new Spotlight Suggestions service provides fast, relevant search results from the Internet in Spotlight and Safari on iOS and OS X. The Spotlight Suggestions service is built on massive amount of data crawled from the Internet, sourced from feeds and generated from user interactions with search results. As a member of the team, you’d be responsible for building features & infrastructure for upcoming releases of the service.
Key Qualifications
Significant practical experience with Search relevance highly preferred
5+ years experience writing in Perl, Python, Java, or C++
3+ years practical experience in the following areas:
Development on Unix
Distributed computing and clustering architectures, Hadoop/MapReduce
Working independently and collaborating in small teams to deliver production infrastructure
Machine learning experience

Apple's Internet Software & Services organization is seeking an energetic and self-driven Sr Search Relevance Engineer who will play a central role in the delivery of Big Data, Machine Learning & Search based Internet services. As a member of our fast-paced group, you’ll have the unique and rewarding opportunity to shape upcoming products from Apple. Responsibilities: - Design, develop and implement systems and algorithms for text mining and machine learning over extremely large data sets - Develop and implement systems for analytic tools and models - Design and implement search relevance and quality systems - Discover and quantify relationships between features across large volumes of real-world data - Collaborate with other engineers and with operations to deliver scalable, robust, and high-performance systems to apply machine learning solutions to production data
Education
Masters Degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience
