WD is seeking a director of user experience to define how users experience our connected home consumer products and our suite of mobile, desktop, and personal cloud apps.
Working closely with our product management and development teams, you will inspire and lead a team of visual and interaction designers to create outstanding products
Recruits, retains and maximizes staff performance by building critical skills; ensures succession and development plans are in place for key positions
Provides input to strategy and operating plans
Responsible for executing and managing the day-to-day operations of his/her team(s)
Recommends changes to operating procedures
Directs multiple groups of software engineering functions headed by software engineering managers.
Defines strategic direction for multiple functional areas
Establishes goals and objectives for functional teams aligned with product roadmap and business direction.
Works with other Sr. Managers to develop strategies to achieve business goals.
Travel may be a requirement.
Qualifications
A strong creative background is a must, as is a strong history of delivering great consumer apps.
B.S. + 12 or more yrs experience; M.S. + 10 or more yrs related work experience; PhD + 8 or more yrs related experience
8+ yrs managing employees
Expert level knowledge of programming languages and software architectures and implement strategic directions in order to meet business goals.
