Facebook is seeking an experienced, outgoing, and highly self-motivated professional to support the negotiation and procurement of energy for our growing fleet of data centers. In this role you will be the core driver of financial analysis for evaluating and structuring of energy supply options.
You will support Facebook’s energy team to create clean and renewable energy (CaRE) solutions for existing and future domestic and international data centers by developing and performing detailed financial modeling and scenario analysis, developing strategic options, and conducting project due diligence. Your creativity and critical thinking will help drive the development and deployment of Facebook’s global energy strategy in an effort to create a cost competitive clean and renewable energy based supply portfolio that meets the company’s overall strategic objectives. Excellent communication, presentation, and analytical skills are a must. The ideal candidate will have at least five years of highly relevant experience with energy markets, power purchase agreements, investment and contract decision support, and renewable energy project due diligence. This position is full-time and located in our Menlo Park office.
Responsibilities
Support creation and execution of overarching and site specific energy supply strategies for Facebook’s international and domestic data centers
Lead due multi-disciplinary due diligence efforts on equity and/or tax equity investments or long term power purchase agreements with renewable energy projects
perform and also manage all related financial and decision analysis
Collaborate closely with and secure support from external and internal stakeholders including investment banks, outside counsel, developers, and Facebook’s site development, finance, legal, tax, engineering, and sustainability teams to implement new energy supply solutions
Take part in representing Facebook’s business interests with the senior leadership of potential developers, banks, suppliers and other external stakeholders
Support and/or lead various energy projects related to Facebook’s data centers, as needed
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in a business or technical discipline required
MBA and/or degree in electrical or mechanical engineering is highly desirable
Working knowledge of utility and grid interconnection processes is a plus.
Five plus years of highly relevant work experience with financial analysis and commercial due diligence of tax equity and equity investments in renewable energy projects and long term power purchase agreements while working with an energy supplier, developer, consultant, or energy intensive consumer
Self-starter with a passion for developing the best possible solutions to complex energy problems via mastery over relevant details
Experience with developing and implementing renewable energy solutions including modeling complex commercial arrangements and financial structures. Negotiating experience is highly desirable.
Significant hands-on experience analyzing and interpreting energy data, drawing conclusions, defining strategies and recommended actions, and reporting results to senior management
Expert level experience working with Excel and financial modeling. Experience with other database tools (MySQL, Tableau, etc) is a plus
Must have highly effective written and verbal communications skills, and an ability to develop and maintain effective partnerships with suppliers and all stakeholders
Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed (estimated at 25% to 35%)
