Cisco is looking for a Director of Marketing to be a leader in its Data Center marketing efforts. A proven and strategic leader, the successful candidate will define Cisco’s DC marketing vision, strategy and execution, while playing an influential role in shaping Cisco’s overall networking and compute businesses.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Specific responsibilities related to the job include the following:
Demonstrating Strategic Leadership
• In conjunction with sales and business unit leaders, creating the strategic marketing vision for Cisco’s DC portfolio and overall technology direction
• Simplifying Cisco’s vision to ensure that the messaging resonates with customers and key influencers, including the press and analyst communities
• Communicating the strategic vision to a range of internal stakeholders, ensuring that subordinates, peers, and company leaders are aligned with the overall marketing direction
Evangelizing Cisco’s Value
• In conjunction with the business units and other internal stakeholders, creating differentiated and strategic perspectives on the market, and sharing those perspectives in a wide range of industry venues
• Sharing Cisco’s strategic vision with analysts, the press, and customers as required, ensuring that Cisco’s perspective sets the competitive context for our chosen markets
Building and Executing the Plan
• Collaboratively setting the short- and long-term marketing objectives that will be used to measure success in the market
• Translating the strategic vision into a tactical marketing plan defining the required messaging, content creation, programs, and other activities required to meet marketing objectives
• In conjunction with the appropriate groups within Cisco, ensuring that internal sales teams and channel partners are able to understand, represent, and sell Cisco security solutions
• Reviewing plan progress and making ongoing course corrections as required
Managing the Team
• Attracting, hiring, and leading a team of marketing professionals responsible for increasing thought leadership, expanding market awareness, and establishing preference for Cisco DC products
• Creating a collaborative and performance-driven environment to ensure tactical execution to the marketing plan
• Continually developing team skills to ensure team career growth and ongoing learning opportunities
REQUIREMENTS
• 10-15 years experience in relevant fields, including security marketing, product marketing, or product management
• Strong experience in DC, including public speaking in industry events, relationship with security analysts and press
• Experience in building, managing, and developing a team
• Thorough understanding of the problems facing customers today and in the future, and the opportunities that these problems represent with respect to compute and networking
• Deep understanding of the prevalent marketing trends, and the challenges and opportunities that these trends represent
• Strong writing and presentation skills, with experience presenting to executive teams, senior analysts, and customers
EDUCATION
• Bachelor’s Degree in Business / Marketing or equivalent experience (MBA preferred)
