The Car Experience Systems Engineering team is looking for an applications engineer to help provide technical design and development support to automotive CarPlay partners from initial concept through production launch. You must be passionate about creating and seamlessly integrating technologies that enrich people’s lives and deliver the absolute best user-experience. The Car Experience Applications Engineer must coordinate with automotive industry applications engineering and development teams to understand how to integrate CarPlay into their systems and achieve the highest level of end customer quality.

• Experience with embedded communication protocols
• Experience with Unix/Linux & embedded tools
• Knowledge of hardware and software development on embedded systems
• Willingness to travel up to 25%
Description
• Be the primary point of contact for partner development and certification progress • Assist partners in improving system integration and end customer experience quality • Assist partners in completing system certification activities • Coordinate technical resources to complete integration of end-to-end systems • Support partner development; fielding questions on technical topics and liaising with CarPlay engineering teams to provide advice • Track and triage partner issues with development and current shipping automotive systems • Develop/manage/maintain relationships with engineers at automotive partners • Active participant in partner engineering activities and development workshops to provide solid technical direction • Work with internal Apple teams to coordinate certification audit activities • Active participant in Apple's Car Experience development activities • Contribute to the maintenance of Apple design guides and technical documentation • Create detailed documentation on system design/debug methodologies • Troubleshoot problems in both internal software and partner systems; devise solutions and workarounds • On-site support for partners developing CarPlay capable systems
Education
Education • Computer Science or Electrical Engineering related degree
Additional Requirements
Preferred Experience • Embedded RTOS (QNX, VxWorks, INTEGRITY, ThreadX, etc.) • Embedded development tools (compiler, debugger, IDE, etc.) • Experience with BSPs and device drivers for an embedded OS • A working knowledge of software for automotive applications • Automotive systems and architectures (Driver Assist, Infotainment, Telematics)
