Johnson and Johnson are currently recruiting for a Director of Project Management to be based out of New Brunswick, New Jersey area.

The Director, Project Management is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control and completion of major capital projects (local and/or global) ensuring consistency with business strategy, commitments and goals. This includes defining, identifying and securing appropriate internal and external resources and coordinating the efforts of team members and third-party contractors or consultants in order to deliver projects according to plan.

Obtains agreement on project definitions, scope, and priorities, and ensures that resources, capabilities and processes are in place. Presents project to senior management stakeholders. Assembles and coordinates project teams and manages project resource allocation. Provides direction and support to project team(s). Leads the planning and implementation of respective local/regional projects and ensures that programs stay on plan by resolving resource conflicts and removing obstacles, which may involve negotiating at a senior level. Defines project tasks and resource requirements and may be required to develop full scale project plans. Tracks project deliverables using appropriate tools. Monitors and report on progress of the project to all stakeholders. Provides status reports defining project progress, problems and solutions. Implements and manages project changes and interventions to achieve project outputs. Manages project budget and conducts project evaluations and assesses results. Ensures that proper risk management analysis is performed and plans are in place for all projects and technology implementations. Ensures metrics for engineering performance are met and plans are in place to provide continuous improvement. Ensures collaboration of the Engineering and Technology group across other functional areas, establishing effective working relationships with partners. Ensures application of efficient work practices for core group processes and ensures continuous improvement and update of these practices by incorporating lessons learned. Provide regional guidance on technology and engineering issues to all functional areas. Develop yearly business plans and personal objectives that support the overall company goals. Advises and correlates short and long term tactical engineering plans and programs for design, construction or alteration of activities based on strategic departmental plans. Complies with all training requirements to perform duties of the job. Meets all mobility demands to perform duties and/or fulfill responsibilities of the job. 100% travel primarily in the “Asia Pacific” region, with the majority focus on China for the initial assignments. Establishes plans for talent development, diversification, and professional development for project teams including contracted and direct reports as needed.
Business Impact -Deliver on regional business objectives that result in fulfillment of company goals through Project and Program Management to establish, enable and attain company goals and objectives. Work Direction -Lead regional, local, and/or global cross functional teams to ensure successful projects and programs to achieve business goals in technology/science. Originates programs and defines strategies and recommendations for improving processes.
Knowledge Depth - Strong management and technical skills. Demonstrates knowledge and expertise in bridging technical and business disciplines, Evaluates and determines appropriate risks. Possesses a full working knowledge of Project Management processes required in the design and execution of field construction activities including, but not limited to quality, project controls, and commissioning / qualification of FDA and other agency regulated facilities including regulations governing product manufacturing or importation. Full understanding of Project Controls and financial assessments required for Capital Appropriation submissions.
Process and Manufacturing – strong experience and capabilities in J&J manufacturing processes (Pharma, Medical Device, Consumer). Understanding and familiarity with clean and dirty utility, manufacturing software and J&J Quality system documentation inclusive of CQV requirements in preparation for commercially ready operations.
Leadership - Leads at department level of organization. Provides consultation to colleagues and mgmt. Demonstrates a track record of mentoring others. Performance- Documented success achieving company goals. Strong record of collaborating to ensure completion of significant projects. Innovation- Delivers innovative and complex projects or programs to meet company goals on local, regional, and/or global level. Tracks technology and industry trends. Ability to interact in multicultural environment.
Construction Management – experience and full working knowledge of field construction activities, schedule development, construction safety methodologies, functional disciplines, RFP development, descoping and award of contracts including understanding of contract language and associated legal implications.


Qualifications
· A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management from an accredited institution is required.
· A minimum of 12 years of relative business experience in the project and construction management field is required.
· Prior experience leading managing major capital projects over $150MM in Supply Chain, R&D, Distribution Centers and Offices is required.
· Experience leading a project management group with a project workload over $200MM
· Full working knowledge of Project Controls in cost and schedule development and financial assessments is required.
· Willingness to support remote project locations for extended time periods, within or outside US. With ability to travel up to 100% domestically and international is required. Initial focus will be on project within People’s Republic of China.
