We have an exciting opportunity for an Actuarial Director to join our Internal Audit team. We are seeking an actuarial science subject matter expert who will be responsible for leading audit coverage of highly complex insurance processes for AIG’s Global Property and Casualty (P&C) businesses and managing key relationships with senior management. This position will be responsible for directing and overseeing audit activities for actuarial and financial audits of various AIG entities and member companies, with specific attention on key processes in reserving, pricing, underwriting, reinsurance, claims, and business strategy. You will be responsible for continually assessing and revising the strategy and direction of the audit plan and approach for specific stakeholders.

Specific responsibilities will include::

Develop a strong understanding of the risk management profiles of businesses and functions, as well as key strategies and risks; allowing the incumbent to provide input and guidance on emerging risk and control issues.
Lead actuarial audits (in-depth testing of selected control processes to assess adequacy of process design and operational efficiency) and ensure the development of meaningful recommendations with clear and concise audit report language, in accordance with IAG policies and procedures.

Assess the risk and internal controls within the global actuarial function of AIG’s P&C business units. The areas of coverage for this group include reserving, pricing, modeling, transformation activities, and management information development and use.

Collaborate with other audit teams to provide for an integrated and coordinated approach to insurance risks and audit testing.

Establish processes and procedures to continuously monitor the changing risk profile of AIG’s global actuarial function covering reserving, pricing, and technology platforms supporting these activities.

Build and maintain strong working relationships with key reserving, pricing, and risk management personnel.

Stay abreast of industry developments and Company actuarial initiatives to adapt audit coverage as appropriate.

Prepare interim and annual performance evaluations; and on-going coaching and feedback.

Work with the client in a consulting role to add value and resolve critical problems.


Position Requirements:

Minimum of 10+ years' experience in actuarial and/or related insurance activities. Certifications - Qualified actuary (FCAS preferred).
Solid understanding and experience of a broad range of Property and Casualty insurance activities, products, etc., including but not limited to reserving, underwriting, pricing, reinsurance, and claims as well as other key insurance processes and controls.
Experience working in a global organization and interacting with senior executive management.

Proven ability to manage large interdisciplinary projects in a matrixed environment.

Effective communicator (both verbally and written) with management and external parties (including external auditors), including the ability to proactively communicate emerging risks and how issues impact the process and controls of a business unit.

Strong conflict management, negotiation and team building skills, including the proven ability to resolve sensitive and difficult situations while maintain working relationships with all levels of the organization.

Ability to navigate through matrix reporting environments – both within the Audit team (i.e. Coordination of resources required to execute global coverage) and with partner businesses and functions (i.e. Understand the roles/responsibilities of all the different corporate functions, and the ability to manage through different perspectives on prioritizations and degrees of risk exposure).

Solid organizational skills and a proven ability to effectively prioritize initiatives to meet internal and external needs and expectations.

Experience in reserving, pricing, and capital modeling.
Bachelor's Degree required, Advanced Degree preferred.
