The Director, Global Strategic Sourcing (Indirect) will be responsible for all sourcing and procurement activities for the Marketing, Print, Events/Travel and Transportation spend categories. This role will be responsible for developing and implementing sourcing and procurement management strategies for these assigned categories and provide leadership, management, guidance and expertise on the development and implementation of the Strategic Sourcing Initiative.

DETAILED RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
Direct responsibility to manage a team of sourcing and procurement professionals for assigned portfolio of categories and supplier relationships which are complex and difficult to manage (e.g., marketing, print, events/travel and transportation).
Develop and propose metrics to analyze supplier total cost and cost savings to the organization.
Adopt, lead and implement Sourcing and Procurement Management as a structured process creating and leading cross-functional teams.
Effectively lead large cross functional and high performing teams and develop and manage new contracts implementation/communication plans and strategies to maximize contract utilization and cost savings.
Provide expert guidance and leadership to the sourcing/procurement teams as needed for contract negotiations strategies, sourcing strategies, supplier management, stakeholder management, risk management, problem solving and resolution and change management.
Personally and proactively manage all aspects of implementation including entry and exit of suppliers and ensuing complex change management issues.
Review and approve initiatives/project plans, strategies, goals, objectives and deliverables. Review and approve sourcing processes, supplier selection, strategies for contract negotiations, contract documents and implementation plans.
Develop and manage reporting requirement and manage strategic sourcing and Iproc training requirements.
Develop, lead and implement ongoing process improvement strategies to streamline sourcing and procurement processes to ensure that the direction of strategic sourcing initiatives is aligned with organizational business plans and performance objectives.
Personally lead high performing teams and individuals to deliver timely, high quality services to our stakeholders.
Serve as lead negotiator and primary point of contact for negotiations of extreme sensitivity and/or complexity, or confidential negotiations.
Develop and manage short/long term strategic sourcing plans.
Recruit, select and hire staff and provide operational leadership and building a culture of operational excellence.
Identify training and development opportunities to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the team.
Effectively provide backup coverage for the Senior Director Global Strategic Sourcing on an as needed basis.

Skills:
Demonstrated supervisory and management experience that includes managing and motivating staff in an environment with concurrent tasks, competing priorities and resources utilizing work and project plans to meet deadlines.
Demonstrated knowledge of and expertise using various proven negotiation methods. Must be skilled at adopting a full range of positions, from partner to adversary to defend the Organization against unscrupulous practices.
Demonstrated experience with total cost modeling and related financial analytical techniques.
Demonstrated knowledge of vendor pricing schemes, variations in the financial terms of contracts, service models, contract standards, and other business practices.
Proven knowledge and understanding of project management concepts, practices, standards and processes as demonstrated by experience leading complex teams in a collaborative environment, building consensus, promoting an exchange of information among technical and business collaborators and leading successful complex team and multi-party negotiations.
Understanding the trends in E-procurement and E-sourcing technology; ability to recognize opportunities for business improvement and cost savings; ability to focus effort in areas of greatest return.
Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills, including a demonstrated ability to articulate ideas and issues clearly, concisely and persuasively to a variety of audiences, including technical, administrative, vendor representatives and senior management.
Demonstrated ability to work calmly and effectively in situations under pressure and to manage time effectively in a changing environment.
Thorough knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of software and experience in effectively using Word, Excel and PowerPoint to create documents, reports and presentations.
Experience:
10 years of professional experience in strategic sourcing that includes demonstrated and successful experience in supervisory capacity and 10 years experience in leading vendor-customer negotiations or a relevant combination of education and experience.
Experience in employing structured strategic sourcing methodology and leading large cross-functional teams.
Experience with and demonstrated ability to perform quantitative and qualitative analysis for major purchases including business case analysis and present a distillation of results of such analysis to senior management, as appropriate.
Experience in managing large and complex spend categories.
Experience and demonstrated ability to critically evaluate legal contracts and work effectively with the Office of General Counsel to achieve acceptable terms and conditions.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Business or related field
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
12+ years of experience in a strategic sourcing function
Master’s Degree in Business or Supply Chain
Certified Purchasing Manager or equivalent credentials
Six Sigma, Lean, TQM or other strategy experience
Understanding and application of managerial concepts and techniques in areas such as project/change management, idea creation, coaching and cross-team effectiveness
