Senior Director Developer Program Center of Excellence Visa Foster City

Job Description: • 2-minute read •
The VDP Center of Excellence is a lean, but highly-focused, team of architects and engineers whose vision is to establish Visa as a leading brand in the developer community. As a member of the COE, you will inspire and equip a global community of engaged developers from financial institutions, merchants, strategic partners, and ISVs and help them fuel payments innovation using Visa's network, value-added services, and data assets.
You'll provide expert advice to developers who want to use Visa's services – understand the client's business problem or market opportunity, help them find the right APIs for the job, show them how our APIs work and what they do, and help them define the architecture of their products. You'll help build our external client co-development capability and may actively engage with them in applied product development. You are the expert "front door" to Visa for developers.

You'll engage regularly and often with developers and use their feedback and experiences to create and evolve content, add desirable features, identify new APIs needed/wanted by the market, and enhance the usability of the APIs, SDKs, and Developer website. You'll work with Visa's Product Managers to identify, define, and build new APIs to fill emerging demands in the marketplace for new Visa capabilities. Once they finish building and testing their applications, you are the developer's primary point of contact within Visa to help plan and execute the necessary commercialization steps required (contracts, licenses, system setups and configurations, billing and payment terms, etc.) to migrate their applications into production.

Qualifications

Have deep knowledge and passion around emerging payments technologies and their potential to change commerce. You can think like, communicate with, and inspire developers to build their new products using Visa's APIs and SDKs. You have a strong engineering or architecture background focused on Web technologies, APIs, and machine-to-machine communication over the Internet. You've probably been an architect or developer of applications or APIs yourself.
Be as comfortable working with an institutional developer at one of our large banking clients as you are with a developer at a payments startup.
Be at least conversant in the predominant programming languages used by our target developer communities. Be equally at home in SOAP/XML as you are in REST/JSON.
Preferably, be willing and able to write reference apps or sample code if the situation warrants it.
A 10+ year track record of relevant work experience and a Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science or related technical discipline is required. An MBA/MS is a plus.
Outstanding verbal, written, presentation, facilitation, and interaction skills. Able to effectively communicate technical issues and concepts to clients and their developers and also comfortable getting into the technical details if the situation calls for it.
Independent judgment and mature decision making skills to deal with projects that often have enterprise-wide scope and may have significant cost and time-to-market impacts.
Great time management and a passion for making commitments happen. Able to work independently, yet seamlessly integrate activities with other teams when needed.
Financial services and/or payments processing industry experience is a plus.
