As an Engagement Director or Principal, you will advise/assist Liberty Mutual’s Senior Executives in making strategic decisions related to their respective business units. You will design and lead project-related activities in the areas of strategy development, operational improvement, market entry or exit, market positioning and segmentation, post-merger integration, product / customer positioning and profitability, and capital investment decisions. While no two projects are the same, most have similar team structures and will typically last 2-4 months.
Responsibilities:
Understand strategic issues faced by client and the role of the project in addressing those issues.
Conduct consulting projects based on knowledge of finance, marketing, and economics for senior management. Lead teams to produce and disseminate impactful, targeted project findings and research deliverables. Act as an internal consultant.
Design the plan and scope for projects, research, and analyses.
Perform and oversee business analysis and evaluate the impact of alternative management decisions on company business and financial performance.
Lead teams to produce research and analysis findings in various mediums. Build cohesive and compelling points of view that relate to the organization. Tailor project storylines based on stakeholder needs. Aggregate cross-project findings to summarize team's work for executive level meetings and events.
Responsible for delivery of content to senior level management and audiences of varying size, level and exposure to topic.
Identify best practices, continuous improvement suggestions and provide feedback to department leadership.
Proactively identify business issues, synergies, and alignment for opportunities across the enterprise that lead to new projects, research deliverables, and analyses.
Develop thought-partner relationships with company executives, managers, and stakeholders to serve as platform for strategic advice.
Supervise staff consultants in various projects and analyses, ensuring quality of work and proper communication among project members. Develop and evaluate team and individual performance.
Contribute to selecting future talent for the department by assisting in recruiting, interviewing, and training new consultants
Act as a Career Coach to help staff members with their development, explore opportunities, provide feedback, and serve as a mentor
Qualifications:
MBA or equivalent business and analytical background, combined with at least 4-6 years of top-tier strategy consulting experience or 7 years of research experience. Advanced education may substitute for years of experience
Courses or experience in financial analysis, marketing, strategic planning, and management
Insurance or Financial Services industry experience is preferred but not required
Broad knowledge of the functions of the department and of other departments and subsidiaries of the Liberty Mutual Group
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written), with track record of presenting to executive-level audiences and effectively contributing to cross-functional initiatives
Ability to develop strong relationships and influence others while working effectively with a diverse group of professionals, including senior executives and managers
Advanced with Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel
Familiarity with analytical tools such as SAS or R is preferred
