The Marketing Director serves as the Marketing business partner for the Energy & Utilities industry team. S/he builds awareness of and preference for CGI’s Energy & Utilities offerings by developing and implementing marketing programs targeted to our stakeholders: clients, prospects, partners and employees. Reporting to the U.S. VP, Marketing, s/he works in close collaboration with Energy & Utilities account managers and internal partners across the business unit to promote CGI’s Energy & Utilities thought leadership, services and offerings, unique capabilities, and success stories within selected target markets.
Principal duties and responsibilities:
The Marketing Director will be a well-rounded marketing professional with experience across many disciplines. The role requires a balance of vision and strategy, executive presence, hands-on implementation, and an ability to get things done internally through influence.
The Marketing Director will be the central point of contact for all Marketing activities in Energy & Utilities (E&U). S/he will contribute to the E&U strategy by developing the marketing strategy and plan, and recommending and supporting execution of the relevant tactics to achieve the plan. Such activities may include:
• Translate Energy & Utilities’ business priorities into an effective marketing strategy and plan
• Conduct or direct relevant market research to support the E&U strategy
• Support the development of E&U offerings and value propositions, ensuring that CGI is being positioned uniquely in the market
• Support go-to-market relationships and offerings with our external partners, as required
• Envision, design, and support execution of integrated marketing campaigns to support the marketing plan, working closely with internal partners
• Envision, design, and support execution of client and industry events
• Develop marketing assets to enable the sales community to articulate and present CGI's E&U value propositions
• Provide marketing support to specific clients and opportunities (client- and deal-based marketing), as required
• Working closely with our Global Industry Analyst Relations team, serve as the U.S. liaison to the E&U industry analyst community
• Serve as the liaison to the Global Energy & Utilities marketing community
• Manage the day-to-day activities of the SBU marketing function for Energy & Utilities, including budget and business performance of marketing
Knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience:
• 10+ years of combined experience working in Marketing, consulting, and/or business development disciplines, preferably in an IT or professional services company
• 5+ years of experience of leading Marketing initiatives to or within the Energy & Utilities industry
• Demonstrate a solid understanding of both the U.S. IT services market and the Energy & Utilities industry
• Proven leadership in independently envisioning, designing, and executing integrated marketing campaigns for a large, multi-national organization
• Strong verbal and written communications, including the ability to write and present to executive audiences
• Demonstrated understanding of the strategic use of content marketing, digital marketing, and social media to generate awareness in a crowded market
• Experience working with industry analyst relations
• Professional maturity and executive presence – the ability to achieve and maintain excellent relationships with executives and virtual communities
• A track record as someone who “gets things done” and thrives on managing numerous concurrent initiatives
• Intellect and flexibility to work in a highly dynamic environment with tight deadlines
• Excellent judgment and creative problem solving skills
• Self-starter who has advanced project and budget management skills
• Degree educated in related field (marketing, communications, etc.)
• Flexibility to work additional hours in line with business needs and/or critical deadlines
• Flexibility to travel, as needed
