This position will lead the team responsible for DevOps testing and maintenance, in support of large key strategic initiatives.
The position reports into an Director/Executive Director and will have oversight for approximately 25-30 employees in a large DevOps/software organization. Targeted locations are San Jose, CA or Irving, TX.
Responsibilities
Build a world class software validation and DevOps team.
Define and rollout engineering best practices for SCM, build, Patch management and software delivery
Collaborate with cross functional team to deliver on agile roadmap on time with quality and consistency with greater emphasis on automation.
Drives a defect prevention culture in the development organization.
Manage a team of 3 to 4 functional managers.
Drive respective coordination and facilitate change across functions within group and cross functional teams.
Track and report software development progress on a periodic basis.
Drive a culture of accountability with emphasis on quality.
Establish performance goals for the team and do annual performance reviews.
Working very closely with product managers and functional managers to establish software release criteria.
Desired Skills and Experience
An excellent understanding of DevOps methodologies and good understanding of modern DevOps platforms using Dockers etc.
At least 2+ years of experience in operating a large product/service using DevOps
A good understanding of Cloud architecture, software development and Agile methodology
Prior experience as test, build, script, regression and release engineer is highly desirable.
Proficient with B&R and software development tools/environment such as Jenkins, JIRA, Confluence, GIT etc.
Automation skills like Chef, Puppet, Ansible or similar is desirable.
Technical experience in NMS system architecture for telecommunication domain.
Excellent communication and problem solving skills
Strong leadership with a passion for innovation
Excellent project management skills. Ability to establish priorities, manage multiple projects/priorities at once, establish timelines/milestones to achieve objectives
Strong interpersonal skills; ability to interact professionally and effectively with all levels of employees across the business; ability to influence and negotiate
12+ years of experience, the latter of which in a senior leadership role
Ability to operate effectively under pressure of deadlines
Ability to adapt quickly to changes in business requirements and technology
Strong strategic, analytical and critical thinking skills
