Job description
eBay.com is looking for a well-rounded, passionate business and web-marketing leader who is adept at strategic planning and able to execute SEO at a tactical level. The individual in this role must possess a proven track record of delivering results through SEO techniques and they must be comfortable influencing across all levels. This candidate must be a veteran SEO professional with a strong background in e-commerce, data analysis and content curation. As a key member of the team, you'll be responsible for defining SEO priorities and will direct a cross-functional team focused on SEO that includes product, engineering, content and analytics. Candidates must have a demonstrated record of quantitative/analytical attentiveness, creative problem solving, and strategic execution with Natural Search to join our team.
Areas of expertise will include a clear vision for the future of search. You'll be tasked with navigating a rapidly changing landscape and assuming responsibility for the results of your efforts.
The ideal candidate must possess a strong grasp of social media, and the understanding of how to integrate natural search optimization into a broad variety of content. This SEO professional will drive changes to our marketplace in order to optimize for search acquisition (ensure crawlability, content quality and compel visitors) along with managing the day-to-day search engine optimization strategy to maximize traffic and profitability.
Direct Responsibilities:
Ensure that we deliver SEO business objectives (traffic and conversion)
In close partnership with the product team, drive a cross functional rethink of how we build great shopping experiences that work well for SEO
Craft our SEO strategy and help create the product roadmap to deliver it
Bring deep customer insight and understanding in to the room
Own the development and delivery of a robust human judgment and manual curation capability
Lead a team of internal search experts to enable best practices are shared and leveraged by all groups
Establish processes that incorporate SEO best practices in to site architecture with product teams
Drive reporting and analysis of performance to continuously identify opportunities to improve customer experience and business performance
Requirements
5+ years working in a SEO management role, Director of Online Marketing, or similar role in which you were responsible for the organic SEO
Strong understanding of Google Authority changes and Google Webmaster Tools
Extensive knowledge of the search engine industry, industry standards, best practices, search engine algorithms and ranking strategies
Solid understanding of SEO issues involving site architecture, keyword generation, search-optimized content, link building strategies, and blog optimization
Experience with multi-site, e-commerce, multi-national, multi-language websites
Strong quantitative analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail. Comfortable working with raw data sets to generate reports & insights
Understanding of internet programming languages preferable a background in computer science with skills to include HTML, CSS, footer files, how include files work, domain hosting, image linking, etc
The qualifications must be objective, non-comparative, relevant to performance of the particular position, and enable the accomplishment of business-related goals.
