Director Business Intelligence Staples Framingham

As the Director of Business Intelligence for Staples Business Advantage you will:
Help us unlock the insights within the 100s of terabytes of data we have throughout the company
Work closely with functional and business leaders to identify and deliver insights and reporting and that enable our associates to make more informed operating decisions
Bring together existing data teams to build a best-in-class Business Intelligence function
Leverage technology to scale the deployment of data to drive business operations and key decisions

The Business Intelligence team utilizes a variety of best in class information management tools to deploy data, reporting, analysis and insights corporate and field stakeholders. This group will provide insights to help business leaders drive sales, and provide reporting to help operate the business.

As the Director, you will challenge the business on the best use of data and reporting assets available, while also influencing business priorities. It is essential to be a thought leader in obtaining business insight from internally generated transactional data, and external data sources like market data and social media.

Primary Responsibilities:

Insight generation

The Director will build a team of analysts that can generate actionable insights based on internal and external data. The analysts will be proactive thought-partners and trusted to the business. The team will support the mid-market leaders, the Commercial & Enterprise leaders, Marketing, Sales Operations, and the EVP of Staples Business Advantage.

Data Management and Operations

The Director will oversee the governance and management of the data. This includes management of third party service providers as well as partnership with our internal Global Technology team. They will set the standards and ensure consistent definitions across teams. In addition, the Director will oversee development and maintenance of key reporting for the business and customers.

Scalability: leveraging tools and product management

Staples has an expanding use of Self-service tools, including Tableau and internally developed systems. This team will develop, maintain and support dashboards, and analytic tools that enable end-user self-service. Additionally, the Director will lead the team to embrace technology that enables data to be used programmatically in business operations (e.g., “customized” sales reports, sales team campaigns (Helios), marketing campaigns.)


Qualifications


Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree
10-15 years of analytical, systems and project management skills
Prior experience in building and maintaining a high performance organization

Preferred:
Master's Degree
7+ years experience with Enterprise BI applications (Microstrategy, Cognos, Business Objects, OBIEE).
Ability to drive change.
Thought leadership – Ability to drive to actionable insights and partner with the business to drive change.
Curious – always challenging and looking for the answers that will unlock sales and a better customer experience.
Self-service BI Tools experience such as Tableau/Qlikview.
Knowledge of Staples systems.
Strong financial acumen.
Expertise in best in class analytical methods, tools and approaches to measure business performance, and create sustainable solutions. Very comfortable with data, databases, financials and strong bias for ensuring data quality.
Experienced in Data Architecture supporting business processes and business intelligence.
Experience managing relationships with software and professional service vendors.
Experience managing relationships with development partners (Offshore).
Experience with Big Data platforms.
Experience with predictive analytics.
Possess ability to provide strategic vision simultaneously with detailed tactical planning and execution.
Proven project management skills, with the ability to accomplish objectives through others.
Ability to work independently with management to understand their needs and exceed expectations in delivering tools
Ability to translate business functions into systemic solutions
Excellent planning, prioritization, problem solving and organization skills
Demonstrated ability to balance the demands of multiple projects and multiple roles depending on size/type of project
