Job Description:
The Distribution Director will have an extensive background in strategic/tactical logistics and supply chain management to include process innovation, benchmarking and key performance measurements, customer coordination, customized logistics solutions, lead-time and cost reduction strategies.
The Distribution Director is responsible leading the 9 Distribution and Parts Warehouses in North America. As the Group Leader, has direct oversight of 6+million square feet of warehouse space. Partners with numerous third-party logistics companies, executives and collaborates with SCM and other Logistics functions. Additionally, the Distribution Director is responsible for relationship management with the 3PL Senior Management teams as well as relationships with key strategic customers The Distribution Director will oversee operational procedures including analyses and forecast of customer shipping requirements, planning and development of logistic programs. In addition, the Distribution Director will develop methods and procedures for transportation and the expediting of product. Duties & Responsibilities • Manage a department and major business process within the distribution cycle. • Make business related decisions involving multiple factors that may be ambiguous in nature. Decisions on matters that have a significant impact on business operations, financial results, and customer/vendor relationships. • Manage and measure logistics processes including; shipping, warehouse, carrier activity, and damaged products claims identifying exceptional or high cost deviations and making procedural decisions outside the scope of established guidelines. • The Distribution Director manages strategic distribution network planning, and 3PL contracts/coordination, with a continuous focus on process creativity, customer service improvement, waste reduction, and cost savings innovation. • Manages continuous improvement planning with the executive SCM management of strategic trading partners to improve scorecard performance and service levels and reduce cost, lead-time, and overhead. • Establish and formulate real time, focused benchmarks and MBOs/KPIs for each operational aspect of logistics performance • The Distribution Director is involved with the sales and marketing business teams, customer resource management, and assisting with continuous logistics improvement. • Responsible for weekly, monthly, and quarterly KPIs and performance reviews. Conduct a comparative review of all 3PL activity and cost analysis monthly and reports through senior management. Analyze logistics data, identifying and predicting deviations from process, and making procedural changes to take advantage of increased opportunity for efficiency or correct inefficiencies within the logistics systems Manage transportation process from factory to customer delivery, focusing on one of the following: • Space management within the warehouse facility. • Outbound shipping and delivery to customer distribution or retail centers. • Warehouse information systems management Will have responsibility to Selection, Hire, and Performance Management of departmental staff. Manage departmental operating budget. Identify departmental MBO’s Make presentations to external and internal executives Performance Standards (How will duties be measured) Measured by Department standard KPI for business process to include delivery variance, outstanding claims in dollars, shipping volume, inventory accuracy.

Necessary Skills / Attributes
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE • Bachelor degree or equivalent experience • 12+ years of logistics experience required • 10+ years of supervisory experience • Advanced Excel, SAP, WMS, ERP • Utilizes expert knowledge of a specific logistics and supply chain operation. • Utilizes expert supply chain operations of process from factory to customer. Is able to identify and predict unlikely problems within the delivery cycle and has the scope of authority to make changes to process, and personnel, to meet departmental objectives. • The ability to develop, read, prepares, interpret, and understand product shipment information from various order and shipping documents to ensure accuracy and thorough preparation of transportation documents. • Resolves problems of moderate to large scope where analysis of data requires the identification of obscure or undefined factors and decisions have significant impact on business performance. • Exercises judgment and makes decisions on business situations outside established procedures and approves exceptional cases. PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE • Master’s degree in business, supply chain, or logistics is desirable • Supply Chain Certification desirable • Industry Experience in transportation and warehousing • Experience in a global company • Experience in consumer electronics and/or home appliances
